You can say i’m in between or 60-40 with AI - 40% being im for it. I grew up doing art when AI wasn’t around or popular and I love the authenticity of creating art from your psyche because it’s a genuine perspective of the human experience. There’s no thought or emotion behind AI but I do think it does help in the cases that you need a creativity boost or you going through a creative mental block. So like inspiration

My arts director professor begs the differ, lol. He tells us to use it as a tool only and to make it "our own" after editing. Moreover, he encourages us to use Adobe Firefly or ChatGPT and to slap it on resumes too.

Not entirely, AI is basically just a fancy randomizer. It won't always give you a good skeleton to work with, and sometimes more intentional, considered choices in the initial process are better. Along with that, it's just more enjoyable that way. Art stops being fun when you stop making art: when the pen becomes the writer and the writer becomes the editor.

Exactly. Basic copyright knowledge. People should read about cases like Slater v. Wikimedia Commons before they do dumb stuff and take money for a design that cannot be protected.

do you use reference photos? thats basically the same as ai. you literally only generate images to use as a reference/inspiration. you dont just add whatever it generates into your work, thats silly, you just use it to improve your own art.

It's important for graphic designers to embrace change and thrive or risk being left behind. AI is simply another tool in the arsenal of tools that graphic designers already use, so it's hypocritical to say that those who use AI can't create anything without it. Remember the photographers who didn't adapt to digital or companies like Blockbuster, Blackberry, Kodak, Sears, MySpace, Yahoo, Polaroid, and Xerox who failed to change and innovate. Don't be like them. Innovators grab the bull by the horns and steer the market into the next iPhone or Google.

AI is not innovation nor is it some type of new discovery. Quantum Computing has already fly pass AI. Nanotech been here way before AI. It's just pure lazyness for those who don't have a third eye

Man, imagine telling people who've studied this stuff for years that they need to change because other people value their convenience over their skill. Or maybe you forgot about all the photographers who didn't use that stuff and came out successful? Also how are you listing Blockbuster, Sears, and Myspace, all companies that aren't doing well right now? It's not my fault people need the computer to do it for them, so I think I'm entitled to feel offended that people assume I'd do better with it when I'm doing just fine without it. If you can create without AI, then just do that. You're cutting corners.

as a senior designer, I LOVE AI and have now started incorporating it into my workflow. those who refuse are in denial and be assured, everyone is easily replaceable if you don't get on top with technologies, especially in this field.

@@jackcool4632staying up to date with stable diffusion animation techniques along with staying in the loop with software like Gen 1 2 & 3, Dall-E and the like. By keeping up with these technologies and their workings such as the QR code monster and controlnet illusion photos, these things will help you stay IMMENSELY ahead in comparison to the people who deny the use of AI. When you realize you can generate anything you want to see and the fact that this is only the beginning, all the doors open up

@@tailis8489 that may be the case but then again, unfortunately all most people will care about is end-result and overshadow original artists, and just like the writers had their strike with LLMs, I imagine not even just animators, but artistry as a whole (photography, animation, visuals, music) will have the same kind of battle against generative tech very shortly

designers are only better with ai. you dont put in a prompt and use that as the finished product, you use it for inspiration and reference. thats how you use it correctly, otherwise it just doesnt look good and it lacks the expression and design only humans can add

It depends on how you use it really. If you Need to make product concepts you gotta generate It with specific elements and proportions that Need to be coherent, so It would take you some work and editing still. For Graphic design you could use it to find the right image or asset for the Graphic you're making and they wouldnt care less if its AI or a stock image. The problem Is If you Just generate an artwork and call It a day, everybody can spot that if Its AI, but a proper DESIGN Is more than that, in that case AI just makes the process of concept and finding assets faster

They'll be too damn lazy ta look frfr, all that'll matter is that they've got a finished product in their possession which they paid you money to deliver man. I doubt very much that their gonna examine that shit with a microphine glass and willingly surrender a couple hundred more dollars to have it re-done or to get somebody else to do it all over from scratch and extend the waiting game for themselves.
