Apex has a problem with anisotropic filtering, even trilinear. Only happens in very heavy grass areas like in olympus. If you are using a monster of a graphic card, well, you will get a fps hit but not very noticeable, but for those hanging around 100 most of the time, turning the filtering to bilineal makes a huge difernece (it is the only ever game where i have found this diference). Depending on GPU you might want to either turn off anistropic filtering or setting it to 2x at most if you are running a higher texture budget. Filtering higher resolution textures is taxing as all hell, so might want to turn it down for a bit more performance (this wasn't a problem in older games, but the more pixels per texture you are filtering the more it takes.. just saying). Another thing that might be worth looking into is how stable frametimes affect recoil.. this might be completely anecdotal or down to placebo but i feel like capping your framerate properly via RTSS somehow makes recoil smoothing easier (i have 240+ fps regardless in any situation, but capping at my monitors 165hz refresh rate with RTSS somehow made this feel better overall). Think this might be down to how recoil works as it uses frametime to interpolate toward the intended "push value" when you shoot.

Dear Ottr, I am a seasoned apex vet with about 500hrs on controller early in the games life and more recently 1300+hrs on PC from season 9 until now. I am a small time twitch streamer that started in January after buying a whole new setup. For all the hours I've put in this game I always feel like I just am not as good as I should be, until following this guide. I LITERALLY did not know that although my monitor is 200hz, windows had been capping that to 60hz by default and thus apex has been capping my game to 60fps. I just got off a 8hr shift at my normal job and it's 3am for me now so usually my apex games at this time would be pretty mediocre as I'm tired as hell. Literally my first game after following this guide and now maintaining a steady 197fps instead of 60, I shredded through a pubs lobby like butter with the easiest 12 kill 2.5k dmg game of my life. The game feels smooth as butter and I genuinely think changing these settings was the missing piece in my apex career. Thank you for elevating my game and sincerely changing my life. -ttv Symbioticl

Also effects details on low makes thermite grenades harder to see through. And make sure to turn impact marks to high if you are trying to practice recoil control as it allows more bullet holes to be visible. G-sync is amazing for those who struggle to hit their refresh rate, but if u can hit it consistently then having it off is prob more beneficial, either way personally I like to look at my frame times using RTSS and try to keep it linear for the best smoothness. If your fps is unstable jumping across 180 up to 300 you will have inconsistency in your inputs due to frame time variance. At the end of the day it is personal preference. Also if ur PC pulls 300 or 400+ fps on Apex u def don't need to worry about framtimes since the frame time variance is near or less than a few milliseconds that may not affect you. only downside of having a consistent frame time is for the times that u would normally exceed ur frame cap you would be missing out on newer info since the frame times are lower at a higher fps, I choose consistency over higher fps because I feel like it is better for muscle memory

I have the same concern. The only thing i can recommend you to either change is capping fps with Steam/origin command or using reflex ON or boost so it auto capps with gsync and vsync on; do not use RTSS (it adds significant input lag in order to provide perfect stability. With ingame cap its still super stable and you dont get like extra ~20ms of input lag dependly on your refresh rate. So in the end if you cant hit your monitors refresh rate or you can but you still prefer stability turn on Gsync + NVCP Vsync + Reflex On or Boost. On the other hand if you can mantain your monitors refresh ALWAYS, and you can use motion blur reduction (ULMB or DyAc +) if your monitor suppor it( remeber you cant use MBR and VRR at the same time) consider using it as it makes your image so much clearer but for some people can cause headache or eyestrain. I dont recommend other BFI / MBR technologies then the 2 i mentioned. 3rd option is when you can run game on much higher fps so you dont use gsync and vsync and frame cap but you should use reflex (it wont autocap since not using gsync)

I think Apex without AA looks like arse. I turn it on and then also turn on sharpening in the drivers (otherwise it's too soft). That gives the best results by far. Works for both Radeon and GeForce cards. This turn everything to the lowest possible settings until it looks like a low-res version of the Simpsons just doesn't do it for me.
@HappyBeezerStudios2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonhurdlow6607 Yeah, AA is highly subjective. Depends on the person and the game. Some are really sensitive to the jaggies, others don't notice it. I should note that NVidia recently changed their sharpening. The old sharpening that I like is now hidden and you have to edit the registry to enable it. The new one is mixed in with the upscaling feature and has issues. I don't know why they did this, but it's highly annoying.

How i deal with input delay in low-end GPUs (RX 570 and i5 10400f) (edit: full focus on input lag. If you want a super smooth experience, follow ottr's RTSS tips): it's basically the ingame FPS cap: bold, i know, but i've tested many solutions, and it works - because it makes sense. I cap my FPS to my monitors refresh rate (75fps, 75hz) using the *launch command* : +fps_max 75. Driver or RTSS's caps may introduce some amount of delay because they are injected/artificial caps, defeating the effort - though Riva's Scanline Sync is so damn good and smooth, great alternative to vsync on non competitive games, or just the RTSS cap itself, really smooth. I run the game at very min settings @1080p native, just to make sure i can hit 75fps at all times. Tearing can be a problem in some days, messing the "smooth feel", but there are days where it doesnt seem to matter: maybe servers, maybe background tasks. Moving from Steam to Origin seems to have helped a bit (grain of salt). To any one interested, just look up "Battlenonsense input lag" on youtube: the dude made scientific-ish videos exploring AMD Anti-Lag, Nvidia Low Latency and Nvidia Reflex, trying to understand how they work, but also how (ingame and external) FPS caps are helpful in reducing input lag. TLDR about the guy's work: the reason capping FPS lowers input lag is because when the GPU is not at 100%, frames produced by the CPU will be rendered as soon as possible (because GPU is available), reducing delay/input lag. I probably wouldn't cap it at 120fps (if it was my minimum), the fluctuation wouldn't be so bad (for me). But it's really worth it at lower framerates: you get rid of the fluctuation without losing much responsivity, *shockingly* . If I had an Nvidia card I'd enable Reflex and not cap it, since it basically keeps the GPU just below 98%-ish at any framerate, giving the same effect. Having reflex+boost basically forces the GPU to "work hard" on max clocks, as to mitigate the 2% loss in GPU power. I don't have an Nvidia card, so idk, maybe capping would still be worth due to the consistency of frametimes and muscle memory. Since I game on an AMD card, I enable Anti-Lag: it improves input lag when the GPU is at 100%, meaning the drops below 75fps fell less jarring (they still feel noticeably worse, even when it hits just 74fps, because GPU would be at 100%). It's low-end, but it doesnt have to be jarring.

There‘s an actual misinformation in regard of that g-sync and vsync topic in that video. Basically v-sync is needed for g-sync to work as intended - that is correct - but if you force v sync on on the driver level it keeps your frame rate below your max. refresh rate at all times. So there‘s no need for an external tool like rtss and or any kind of additional cap on the driver side anymore. So if you‘re using G-Sync + V-Sync and turn on reflex ingame, your framerate will always be around 138 (on 144Hz Screens) or 224/225 on 240Hz Screens.

I barely have 60 fps and i feel how my pc limits my aim(( like i mean master, 4k 20k its not hard for me even on my setting with 60fps xdd (I'm not bragging, I'm just used to such a "torn laggy input lag" game), but sometimes i just cant kill my enemy cuz my tracking start suck on fps drops even on 1-2 frames (58 or 59 for example). 1 week ago i was with my friends in good computer club where were moster pc's, and i played apex on 240hz 240 fps. Daaaamn boiz its COMPLETELY whole different game, when you have that smooth in game process. I was feeling myself like neo from matrix I saw exactly how my enemies were moving and it was easy for me to track them, my tracking was on another level ngl.. i knew that i was more better player than i'am with my home pc, but... Unfortunately i have dogshit pc and it's limits me so bad. no fps drops on gibby ult or bangalore smoke or termite nade... That was just unbelievable for me in club, on every situation tracking was good with out input lag and etc etc. Sorry if i have grammar mistakes guys. P.s i also feel sad when i realise, that sometimes i have to fight against 240fps predator monsters with my 58-60fps 😅😅😅

A .zip file is just a compression (makes the file smaller.) You need to unzip it to unload the program Think of it like taking groceries out of your car. You pack them into a small trunk, and to eat them you need to unpack it and load it into your pantry or fridge!

i have a $11k pc I've been messing with settings a lot of setting to try and get a stable 300fps setup with minimal tearing and motion blur i have a 360hz monitor but apex caps out at 300 sadly its been a struggle tuning apex with the servers being so inconsonant i had most of the setting you showed already set up on my global setting in NVidia control panel but changet the gsync from full screen only to both and set up all the setting in r5apex to be set and not say same as global setting the game became more stable so thank you for the excellent explanations

Hi, kinda late but i have some question about my setup. So i played apex with Asus TUF GamingF15 Laptop with Intel i5 series and GTX 1650. What setting the best for my gear to achieve more stable fps because i can't make low latency mode on (only off and ultra opt available). And I kinda can't understand on how to tweak/setting the graphic setting to make it better. Any suggestion fellow? I highly appreciate any of your suggestion below. Thank you so much!

So I want to make sure I understand right. After I download RTSS, I run a few games without it first and take note of what the lowest FPS is that my setup is fluctuating to. Then cap it on RTSS to that number under Framerate limit?

low latency mode in my nvidia control panel only has off and ultra, but my game has nvidia reflex so what setting should i put in?
@marcmy2 жыл бұрын
Can anyone elaborate on what issues Low Latency Mode on Ultra causes? The nvidia control panel says it minimizes latency when both V-sync and G-sync are enabled so I always thought it was good to have. TIA
@shamba44062 жыл бұрын
It doesn't even do anything In Apex If you can use Reflex beacause Reflex will override low latency mode
@2Kaveli2 жыл бұрын
what about disabling fullscreen optimizations in the properties tab of apex? and why would you increase texture filtering if your goal to have the most fps possible? also other youtuber doing the same said that in the nvidia panel „high performance“ performs worse than just „performance“ and negative LOD Bias on „allow“ makes movements blurry instead so you should change that to „clamp“

Is stable, consistent 240FPS possible in apex with a 3080ti? I still get some frame drops down to 170 or so.
@kmm85272 жыл бұрын
If your PC can run Apex faster than your monitor refresh rate for example 190fps on 144hz monitor i wouldn't use g sync and u shouldn't use RTSS for limiting fps because in Apex it increases latency (always use built in game fps limiter if it's necessary) check Optimum tech and Hardware unboxed benchmarks if u don't believe me, in Apex more fps = lower input lag
@xenen97972 жыл бұрын
*lower perceived input lag.
@k0bain2 жыл бұрын
You actually cannot use G-Sync with a frame rate higher than your monitor refresh rate.
@HappyBeezerStudios2 жыл бұрын
in most games more fps gives you lower input lag because the frames are just rendered quicker. But there isn't only input lag for each individual frame, but also frame consistency. rock solid consistent 120 fps will feel better than fluctuations between 150 and 190
@Imposure2 жыл бұрын
personally I feel like Freesync really messes with Apex, try Low-latency set to ON Vsync Disabled, Reflex Enabled in game, Sunshadow coverage Enabled, Shadow detail disabled, volumetric lighting & dynamic spot shadows disabled, impact marks high, ragdolls, effects, low, model detail medium or low.

Hey man! I did tons of testing with the videocfg and autoexec files. While you can change specific things like gamma (brightness) and shadows on/off, settings like those aren't specifically labeled, and are likely a combo of a bunch of other small settings. I reccomend deleting the videocfg file contents, saving that, un-check read only, and set all the in game settings you want. Then close the game and copy the newly edited videocfg. Make changes that you know and are labeled like the gamma and turning off shadows, then save and check read-only. Hope this helped! Lmk if you have any more questions!

Curious how come you don't use Nvidia control panel to limit the fps that way
@HappyBeezerStudios2 жыл бұрын
Input lag. Sure you can limit the framerate through NVCP, or even the game itself, but in most games it has been shown that limiting fps via RTSS causes the least input lag. I even saw a test that compares frame consistency and input lag across RTSS, in game settings and the 3 nvidia framelimiters in a couple games, and in most cases RTSS gives you the most stable rate.
