This was a classy time for musie. Sharp dressed, natural raw talent. No overdubbing, no auto tuning. So good

All that diversity right? What at good time no racism at all.
@bloppysloppy4057 Жыл бұрын
Yes it was natural diversity not forced like today. This was a huge hit in 90% White country. The Montones seemed much happier than grievance heads like you looking under every rock to feel "oppressed".@@TreyMessiah95

Mel: " These guys are so dapper, they look so CLEAN"! Yes Mel, they ARE. Back in the day, performers were respectful towards their audiences, whom they knew wanted a good night out, away from the drabness of industrial work that many were employed in. The audience would scrub up and dress up, which created a sense of occasion, and the performers would do likewise. Everybody felt it, and it helped the performers give their best: everybody won!

This song was released in 1957. It was the year I turned 9 and an older cousin introduced me to doowop, rhythm 'n' blues and rock'n'roll. And a whole new world opened up!! Looking for stray cans and soda bottles to redeem got me enough money to buy a transistor radio. Tuned it in to WINS AM for this "new" music. Watched American Bandstand once we got a black & white TV. Of course, my parents hated it but I was hooked and never looked back!! Still going strong musically over 60 years later... Chuck

All the entertainers in that era dressed for success as they say. Suits, ties, or neat sweaters, women wore dresses, skirts, later in time neat dress pants. They all had to have talent because there were no computers to alter their voices. The artist of today couldn't do half of what they did.

These are the days before a hoodie became a dress-up fashion item and caps were worn backwards or cockeyed and when people actually wore pants that you didn't have to hold up with your hand as Carly Simon saying these are the good old days she foresaw it coming she said that in the 60s and 70s

Don Mclean mentions this song in his masterpiece 'American Pie' "Did you write 'The Book of Love' and do you have faith in God above if the Bible tells you so.' "The Bible tells me so" is from a children's Sunday School song 'Yes, Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so.' Every time I hear 'American Pie' I think of the Monotones, Marty Robbin's 1957 hit 'A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation,' Buddy Holly's 'That'll be the Day" 1957. So much of the late fifties period. And here we actually get to see the Monotones perform 'Book of Love' 1958!
