The Jarmels were a doo wop R&B group who had a 1961 charting hit with this song. It made it to Number 12. In 1960, they got a break meeting Ben E. King, who invited the group to New York. They met with the Laurie Recording Company and became the first African American group signed to their record company. Just a great tune, with wonderful lyrics, instruments and vocals. Nice memories. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Romello.👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Love doo-wop. As a kid I listened to these records. one of the first concerts I went to was Sha-na-na in the 70's beck when they were at their peak and they had their own tv show. I had their 8 tracks in my old GTO.

Yers Harri, this is fantastic. I was so glad that in the 70s, Showaddywaddy brought this song to the people then too,

I Love This Song! They should have been bigger than they were. Doo-wop is so awesome.

Doo-Wop was a 50s phenomenon that had all but disappeared by 1961, when this song was released. Doo-Wop makes you happy like no other music can do.

I was at Laurie Records studio when they recorded it. I was 17. Where the hell did it all go? Very underrated vocal group, but never by me. Long live all the doo-wop groups we once had..

You don’t know HOW LONG I been waiting for a reaction to this. Detroit had the best Oldies stations in the 80s and 90s. Plus CKLW across the river in Windsor, Ontario.

Good choice here, Harri, on a sort of one-hit wonder group. A great classic that no one has reacted to is "Sea of Love" by Phil Phillips. Was his only hit. You've got to find that one and give it a try. Another good one is Ron Holden's "Love You So". And lastly, you absolutely must react to a great song called "Those Oldies But Goodies" by Little Caesar and the Romans.

The Jarmels were a doo wop R&B group formed in 1959. "A Little Bit of Soap" was their only big hit in 1961.

Great stuff!! One of the very first 45s I ever bought 😀 It was 1961. It was on Top Rank. I still have it somewhere. Unbeknownst to me it was my introduction to a that fantastic writer/producer Bert Berns who wrote this song (as Bert Russell). Bert would feature very strongly in my vinyl purchases. Next up was "Cry To Me" by Solomon Burke followed by "Twist And Shout" by The Isley Brothers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bert_Berns
