Finally someone that got the weights actually right very good video Exactly the right weight for what the average 4 x5 round bales weight I’ve had two new Holland Baler, John Deere Baler, full pressure nut wrap, you get between 700 and 800 about 12% moisture doesn’t matter if it’s grass or alfalfa

I’ve been thinking a lot about our operation with 5x5.5 bales and I’m planning on getting a single axle day cab truck with a 50’ flat deck trailer or a step deck with ramps. That way I don’t have to worry about over loading or stopping if someone pulls out in front of me vs a 1 ton truck

You said you baled pretty dry. We always bale a little on the green side. Round bales are more forgiving than square bales for moisture content. If they were greener, the weight would have been higher.

I already watched your while vid but I would have thought about 750lbs but with a mature, dry crop 700lbs actually makes sense. These are still solid bales that will maintain their shape which is what's important. On a side note most people overestimate the weight of hay especially producers that never weigh them. My 4x5 coastal bales are 800-850lbs and are tight as I try to maintain shape when stacking on the round side 3 high in a barn. I have customers that say so and so sells a 1000lb bale...not possible in a 4x5 package unless it was produced 6months ago sitting outside on wet ground after 20" of east Texas rain on it.

Everybody around me adds 6 inches in diameter when they tell you the size of bales they are selling . All you have to do is step up to them. I'm sure they also add 6 inches in length where they can...

We make 4x5 baleage with a vermeer 504 pro... I've had bales over 2100 lbs. I'm hauling 23 on my 53' semi and still can't stay legal on some local roads!

I’ve always felt like hay hauls easy compared to equipment. It always feels lighter than it is
@songs88033 жыл бұрын
We haul both, hay is much more consistent with the wind drag. Catches more than one single wheel loader, but when you start getting multiple pieces of equipment especially in a side wind they pull hard. Disks pull extremely hard due to the disk gangs turning the wind hard.

Probably around 22,500 for a 36’ gooseneck with 24 rounds. Tongue weight is probably fifteen to twenty percent of that so 4000# on the hitch. Looks like a one and a half ton truck so it should be fine. It’s just in low gear because of the turf.
@chanshadeez23033 жыл бұрын
I did the calculations. 10500 for the trailer plus 23 hay bales that weighs roughly 700lbs a piece means a 26600lb load.

What is typical sale value per bale when you deliver? What part of Texas are you in?
@Gen3tx3 жыл бұрын
I usually double stack my trailer and usually get around 26 bales on will usually get about 22k lbs payload

So when you say Bluestem you’re talking about big Bluestem the native prairie grass? It’s right about the same with my 4 x 5 Bales weight
@GolschHayFarms3 жыл бұрын
Bluestem here was a grass used by the state highway department to prevent erosion on roadsides. It was imported from India or Africa I believe. What they didn't expect was how dominant the grass would be, especially in dry years. Our bluestem is almost becoming a nuisance and it's hard to get rid of. It has thousands of tiny seeds per plant and can get established quickly. One upside to it is that it feeds well and provides decent nutrition for cattle. It's taken over most of our area.

I’ve hauled 30 round bales at 1100lbs each on my 40 a couple times. If y’all ever need any transport help I’d be glad to help. I’m out of south Texas but run a lot around the central and east Texas area

I run 30 bales on my 38’ all year with 850lbs bales. Gross weight averages 40k been doing it for years. That Texas pride will handle that no problem.

I always stack two wide on top as well to get 30.

@@GolschHayFarms understandable. My truck and trailer only weight 15,500 empty so you’re starting off heavier than me already. I would get your rig up to 40k and not go heavier, that would should be about 30 bales

1100 Lbs per bale?
@kennybates62163 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you need to change anything. The nose is rated for 30k more than likely. And the wheels and tires should be fine also. On a side note we were 55,000 lbs gross with my uncles 2007 cab and chassis manual 4x4 with a 40 foot elite trailer (23 alfalfa bales from Wichita KS to Llano Tx)

Just double stack on the top row to gain 7 more without spending money put a rack on gooseneck
@brandoncaldwell953 жыл бұрын
The rack is cheap at $1500 last i checked. I have one on my trailer abd ut will add 4 bales if you want to push, but usually only put 1. The issue with double rows, hay ranges a lot. My 40 is only rated at 14k on its back, but do push more.
