Yep. As a young autistic person, I never got the hang of being like the people around me (never helped that I thought life was basically a fictional kids movie and that I had the role of the main character at a very young age). Never could understand how to act or what the other kids liked. Luckily it never got to the point of physical violence but I got harassed way more than I needed to be. Kids are cruel, being able to fit in is a bliss.

Ok, I totally understand people and their opinions, and I also don’t agree how Sophia is just praying and not taking action. After all the Bible says that faith without works is dead. However, I would just ask that you please not call the Bible stupid with your comment. It’s really offensive, and even if you think that way, I’m sure there is a way you could’ve rephrased that in a better way. No one has it all figured out, trust me, not even Christians, but we leave the stuff we don’t know what to do with God. Oh boy, it sure would be nice if telling adults about your bullies worked. Unfortunately, based on the experience of myself and everyone I've known that's been bullied, it literally never worked ever. Funny enough physical violence did occasionally work, as did occasionally "making friends" with the bullies, but there wasn't a really good way to get out of the situation aside from growing out of their reach. Actually, if there were a religion where prayer could stop kids from being bullied, that religion would have SO MANY followers. Also cringed at the prayer bubbles, that part was so overly dramatic and stupid.

Never worked for me either. When I report bullies it just gets swept under the rug and eventually forgotten. Teachers would always say they can't do anything if there's no evidence or no one steps up to be a witness, even when it happened in front of a whole class. But I can be thankful for my family that they took my situation seriously and reported to my school and didn't just tell me to pray and figure it out myself.

Same for me. Adults never stood up for me, so I had to deal with it myself. Ended up giving one kid a minor concussion and sprayed air freshener in one kid’s eyes. He got a chemical burn as far as I remember. It could be a funny story about standing up to the bullies but this experience made me give up my trust in adults completely. Next time a diabetic girl called me names I asked my friend to restrain her and tore off her pump. I was probably a bully in her eyes.

Yes, true, God doesn't take away free will, but also remember that there are consequences to every action. "For every action, there is a reaction". What I mean is that, if I do something bad, and I seem to get away with it, I shouldn't rejoice because my punishment for that sin is coming. Likewise if you do something good, and it doesn't seem that no one's rewarding you; don't despair. Your reward will still come anyways. Now, to clarify the air, I'm not talking from a religious standpoint. it's just a normal law in life. Now coming back to religion, yes, God doesnt take away free will. This was only possible when Jesus came and died for our sins. That's why in the Old Testament, the moment anyone sinned, God's going to kill you. He was really strict about not sinning and my God, if you were a defaulter, you were bound to suffer immediately. Remember, God allows free will, but there are consequences for every action you take. So it's up to you to sit down and ask yourself "Is this the right thing to do before God's eyes?" I think I like the concept of free will, because as a human, I know I am not perfect, so I make mistakes. I do bad things sometimes. And I learn my lessons. Consequences come, and I sit and reflect, and be a better person (it's not easy, tbh). But if there was no free will, the moment you're stealing your mom's money from her purse, you're instantly getting sick or you won't pass that exam you've been praying for (action-consequence rule)

My prayers were simple. Just constant begging for forgiveness because I was riddled with guilt for every thought and desire I ever had. Did I feel better? Sure, it's part of the program. Spew it out, get it off your chest, and you feel better. It's not different that screaming into a pillow or having a whiskey to calm down. Were they answered? LOL. Who the hell would ever know if they've been forgiven or not?! Of course, you just assume you were since you weren't smitten during your next breakfast. Rinse and repeat.

I was raised in evangelical family and was literally on Sophie's place, getting bullied every single day of the school. And all my father did was telling me, that we won't report the bullies to the principal, because "we're not people of conflict", but adviced me to pray to Jesus Christ and he'll definitely help me... long ass comment my theory why angela and her squad bully/torment sophia and barely the other kids (they are mean to them but bully sophia): i feel that angela is subtly an apostate/disfellowshipped girl. she is portrayed as a goth/emo girl who bullies only caleb and sophia, usually sophia. i feel like to angela, sophia is responsible for her disfellowshipping, and angela was shunned and/or kicked out of her house and forced to live with a relative or her grandparents. guessing from her eating lots of lollipops and subtle over-obsession with looking cool, her new family possibly is neglectful willingly/unwillingly. she finds solace in finding ex-jw/jw-hating friends. i feel one of the other unnamed girls is carrie (likely the purple hoodie among us girl) and after sophia talked to carrie about her parents needing to divorce, her parents had a fight and carrie now lives with only one of her moms. she also likely attacks sophia as revenge for breaking up the family. the other girl is possibly just a friend of angela and carrie who does it for fun.

Man, I have never once actually been visited by JW’s and today it finally happened. Two women came to my door and I answered because I thought they were political canvassers getting out the vote. By the time I realized they were JWs and I didn’t want to be rude to I stood on my porch with them, listened to what they had and politely told them I’d check out the pamphlet and that I had to get back to what I was doing. I wasn’t sure what the best way to handle the situation was and maybe I shouldn’t have given them false hope because I’m not interested but I imagine they probably get shot down a lot?
