3:14 Not a Jehovah's Witness as a kid, but raised Christian, and when people would call the church "the house of God" or "God's house", I, as a kid, took it completely literally and assumed God was physically in the building somewhere, I just hadn't seen Him yet. However, I had been pretty much all over the building, and there were these giant vents in the main hall. So, logically, I came to the conclusion that God lived in the vents. It's almost like they twisted the story of Jesus praising the poor widow for donating her only two coins to charity as, "You have to give money to us no matter what." instead of it being a story about how it's always good to be generous and help those less fortunate, even if you don't have much yourself. It's supposed to be the idea that there is far more meaning to helping someone in hard times when you yourself are struggling, vs those who are so rich they could give a charity a few thousand dollars just for a tax write off or without even thinking about the money. He wasn't saying every poor person should give every last coin they have, he was praising this woman's decision to think of others before herself despite her own problems. I think of it like if you were invited to have dinner at the home of someone who lives in poverty vs having a rich person try to impress you with a lavish feast.

In my late 20‘s I moved to an other town for studying reasons. I‘m an introverted, had only two friends (christians) and only left my flat to do groceries or attending university classes. One day I found a handwritten letter in my mailbox. It was from a JW, saying: „Dear Ms first name surname (how did it come that they even knew my name? I did not put it on the doorbell!), we saw you a few times here around in town (whaaaat? Where O_O?) and found you very likeable. Too bad we never had the opportunity to meet each other, but I want to invite you to our kingdom hall, because even you have the right to be saved by God‘s eternal love. I've been in LDS Church for 15 years and still am active. Yep, buildings look alike, but that's where the similarities end. The teaching is quite different from JWs. Mormons are less judgemental. Keeping some members isolated in a separate room doesn't feel acceptable to Mormons at all. Shaming is unacceptable for LDS. LDS culture is about the freedom of choice. Kids can run in the chapel and have a lot of fun during the Primary class. Our church doesn't make money selling off buildings built by volunteers. As an ex-southern Baptist, i was punished in the bathroom of church many times. Saying anything wrong got me in trouble. I accidentally spilled flour at home, and it was the end of the world. Things such as not being very feminine, not liking things, and not wanting to be in the religion got my family so angry at me, they placed me in private school. I often found myself being unable to be a good daughter for my parents, and also unable to shake the feeling of being watched every decision I made. So, eventually I cracked open my shell and fell out of religion; and it was the best thing I'd ever done. I was so tired of God and Jesus and being shunned for the littlest of things. But I had finally been freed, and I saw it for what it really was: culty. To encourage kids not to lie, they were told God was always watching. I saw other people in the religion, and was sad they'd been indoctrinated. Very strict religion, and caused tons of pain in my life. (Note): I have seen some people trying to bring me back to God. I'm not interested. I will be ready for religion when I'm ready. I don't need you to try and convince me otherwise. Update - Recently let my parents know that i am not christian. I got met with "you're gonna burn in hell" by my mother. My father just said he knew id come back. Kind of infuriating. My girlfriend is coming to visit soon, so i hope they don't flip out on me

I've actually noticed that about Jehovah Witnesses. I always ask the uneducated "Pamphlet people" what their church does for the poor. I always tell them about how much the Catholic Church does in comparison to how they only help their own. During the shooting of those attending Friday prayers at the mosque here In New Zealand, literally all of the churches rallied to supported the victims, all except the Witnesses and Mormons. I can guarantee you that despite this despicable "exclusive" complex these people have, those very samd churches would band together again to help the Witnesses if they were to face a terrorist attack. I don't like to say the word hate so I'll just say that i strongly dislike the Watchtower Organisation. My family is Catholic and a few of our aunts were drawn in by the door knockers. They no longer have anything to do with us, some of their children have come back to us because of how much they hated the strange things their new "family" would do. We have family members who are no longer religious, some who are now baptists and even atheists but they still come to family gatherings. That our own family have been lead to shun us makes me despise the Watchtower and everything they stand for. One of my aunts even died because she refused an organ donation. Had the technology for blood transfusions and organ donations been available in Biblical times, i think those opportunities would have been taken

That's one of the easiest ways to tell an actual church from a cult. Actual churches, like the Catholics, Orthodox, and most Protestant denominations, will reach out to help the poor and the needy, including those in other faiths. Cults, like Mormons, JWs, or a handful of "churches" that are stuck in the same "siege" mentality and consider everyone outside their group as enemies to be feared, will neglect anyone outside their own in-group.

They were actually occurrent back then, it just was a different procedure. I've extensively looked into ancient medicine and it seems they were even capable of eye surgeries (Sushruta Samhita in India). Pair that with pretty decent surgical and medicinal knowledge provided by Claudius Galenus, which is demonized now for the Humour theory although if you look at the rest of his works (as in not humour theory) he greatly advanced medicine; Herbologists and Surgeon-Apothecaries at the time would likely disregard the humour theory in practice anyways due to preceding knowledge provided by Hippocrates, Pliny, and Dioscorides. Furthermore, if you look just a few centuries ahead at Andalusia you get the foundations of Neurosurgery because of al-Zahrawi. JWs in general are just ignorant, they can't even get the name of God right; It's the tetragrammaton "YHWH" [Paleo-Hebrew: 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄; Hebrew: יהוה], as Jehovah was from a latinization which made Yahweh into IEHOVAH as "w", "u", and "v" were the same letter "V" in Latin and there was no distinction between "I", "Y", and "J"; Latin technically had "Y" as a separate letter, but they considered it a weird Greek form of "I" and so it was rarely used and instead written with "I"; Similiar to how they wrote IESVS for Jesus, taken from Greek Ἰησοῦς [Iēsous].

I think you're 100% correct. I live outside a town of 1200 or so. There are many churches―Protestant, one Catholic, LDS, Seventh Day Adventist, and also a Kingdom Hall. All the churches in the area (including Catholics) are "friends" with each other, including the LDS (although there's not much mixing) and SDA to some degree. None with JW. I would have zero issue with my church (Quaker/Friends) teaming up with our local Kingdom Hall to help battered women in our area, or to help rebuild houses of neighbors damaged by fire or natural disasters. It's on them. Sadly. I don't believe like they do, but it's too bad we can't be friends.

Im really thankful for this channel. Not only Ive learned there are people with the same experience but also the awareness this spreads is truly great. When I was 7 years old my parents got into the kingdom hall, my mother soon realized that this is just stupid and left, but it completely changed our father. He's the biggest fanatic you'd meet. I remember that just after one year of all this happening they absolutely stripped us of any holiday and absolutely any activities, which just led to our family being completely broken. My father would often beat us to delusion in the kingdom halls bathroom to the point where me and my sister would scream and get huge bruises all over our bodies that would last WEEKS. The fact this cult is hiding behind the term religion when the entire point of this religion is just to control gullible people. It sickens me that people defend this disgusting cult.

As a Christian myself I like how you don’t diss Christianity just the cult wich is what I see in a lot of these type videos
@oofingoofers93477 ай бұрын
There is no reason to diss Christianity, as someone who is not religious and has learned from a mother who is healing from cult trauma, I will say that it's not a religion that is at fault, it's the people that are the problems. Like an example, using a verse that is about happiness and healing and helping others, and then abusing it to discipline children. The verse alone is not the issue, it's that person that used it as something else. If I am being honest, it does anger me when someone decides to bash Christianity when really it's the people that are abusing the Word of God, and using it as something different that causes harm. I am glad that he isn't bashing/dissing Christianity, as again, it is not at fault. JW however is a different story.
@robbiebell72225 ай бұрын
Does not diss Christianity? He only goes and disrespects our God by parroting the atheist's claims of god being unloving and not giving any justification or context. For example at 17:07 - 17:20; he critiques the drowning of innocent animals and completely leaves out the wickedness of man.

@@mcrain1283 It is heavily debated and controversial, yes. However, Men were very wicked and cruel in that time. deviance was rampant. Angels were mixing with humans and giving birth to hybrids. We are told in scripture (GEN 6:5) that "Every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." There was no compassion, respect, love, or gentleness. Only violence, hate, slaughter and cruelty. God will reward evil-doers with their just reward. That does not mean that I delight in death!

That lasted all of 30 seconds until some woman, whom i did not know, felt the need to SCREAM AT ME because i was the oldest and, should apparently, set the best example by not running aroujd in God's house.
