One of the most beautiful yet saddest songs ever written. I think some of the best and deepest songs are the simple ones. This simply describes what it is like for someone to honor their promises and commitments above their own personal feelings. It kind of leaves you feeling that whether he was wrong or right in doing so we will never know. As I was listening to it today for about the millionth time, I was struck by how rare it is these days to hear songs discuss such topics. The 70's were so cool because it was a time when many songs had some deep emotional context that was being openingly discussed. There was real courage and authenticity to the music and lyrics. It's not that we don't have some really good artists today, its just that we had so many of them in the 70's all at once. It was a great time for music.

"England" Dan Seals went on to have a huge career in Country Music in the '80's (Everything That Glitters... God Must Be A Cowboy... Meet Me In Montana (with Marie Osmond) and Bop were some of his biggest hits as a solo artist!

I love this type of soft rock music from the 70's. England Dan & John Ford Coley had a lot of great hits such as "Love Is The Answer", "Nights Are Forever Without You", "Gone Too Far", "It's All Up To You", "We'll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again" etc.

Sometimes our fantasies are better than the reality. How many people leave the best thing that they ever had, to be with someone else, only to have it end after a short time? I think the fact that he stays together with the one he's with, proves that she was the right one all along.

I really loved their music back in the day. This one was a favorite along with "Nights Are Forever" and "Love Is the Answer". This one resonates with me because that summer (1977) I was a young high school girl dating a boy I was head over heels for. One night, at a school bon fire, a guy I considered a friend admitted he was in love with me. What do you do when you're 16 and in the throes of young love when someone you only liked as a friend hits you with this? Every time I hear this song, I'm taken back to that time.

Amen!!!! i love this song i feel the pain i have loved the same man for 44 yrs my heart will always belong to him we have been in love all these years we lost contact for several years i was carrying his baby when we lost contact, a few years ago i found him again on social media all i do is as the song says live in a dream world. England Dan whose real name was Dan Seals and whose brother was lead singer of another contemporary singing duo, Seals and Crofts, was from west Texas and grew up, with his brother, singing at dances and other shows all over Texas and Oklahoma in the 50s and 60s. They both made themselves known as great vocalists and were asked to sing popular and romantic music, without their hats, but later in the 1980s and 90s, Dan, with his hat on, went on the have a number of great country music and western music hits. Others singers of this same type include Paul Davis and Michael Martin Murphey. They all sang romantic hits in the 70s, without their hats, and later had hits in western music with their hats on! I'd like suggest this become an opportunity to crack open Western music. I will gladly guide y'all.

This happened to me, I hired a women Married to a man 20 years her senior, and she was 7 years younger than me, she was April 11th i was August 5th , she came on to me and i took the bait i felt we were soul mates ! we were but both our other halfs found out and i left to semi retire to the woods with my women who forgave me but will never forget what i did, I do miss the other but the one who did not leave me i love the most i was being a dumb ass guy , Promise never again to do that !!!!
