This has to be said. For channels that are not being recommended by KZbin, there is no other option but to have a descriptive title and optimize for SEO. One of my channels was doing pretty well, getting consistent subs and those channel vids were popping up in Recommendations...Now, that channel subs are at a stand still and none of those vids were being recommended. Even vids that apart of a playlist of the same theme don't show up. KZbin is such a fickle place.

Bingo. When KZbin doesn't recommend, it really doesn't matter what title says or doesn't say. It will be a random video that catches the fancy of some viewers and their sharing said video will give the channel a second chance. Short of that, All the King's thumbnails, and all the King's titles can't make a channel fly again.

Clickbait titles work for a short time. The people get dusappointed and click less and less on such a channel. In a title I want information about the actual content. Am I a minority? Does that depend on the subject or channel character?

I recoil when titles are too clickbaity. I skip the CM and VidIQ titles like "Get 4000 watch hours fast!" or "Double your subs!" because it's so hard to find the actually useful information in them. And I've stopped watching some big let's play channels as much because they are overselling so hard.

❤Really helpful video, I was trapped into thinking the best titles should utilise the full 99 characters and as many words as possible for the algorithm, most people that do SEO tell us this and it doesn’t work!! Keeping it real and factual and authentic is the best way so the audience knows exactly what they are getting and it’s not a let down for them ❤

Interested to see the video on SEO, I make videos about a wide variety of obscure old games and have the game title in most thumbnails, and the usual advice is not to repeat elements - but removing the game title from the KZbin title does actually seem to cause them not to show up in KZbin searches for the game title, which I was a little surprised by. Given that the game title is also always in the description (and transcript), it seems like the common advice is that that should be enough to get it showing in search, but from my experiments that doesn't seem to be the case (though maybe I just haven't tested thoroughly enough).

After making this comment, I decided to double down and commit to trying the title advice here for a while. I went back and retitled about 100 of my most recent videos, and almost all are under 65 characters now. This did involve removing the game title in most cases, but I’m going to give it a while before testing how it affects search discoverability across a larger number of titles, since I was only doing short tests with 1 or 2 titles before.

@@ChannelMakers Not at all! Started at 5.7-7.4 in the first two days with average of 7:30 min view duration. And about 55-60% hold at 30 seconds. Impressions just never hit.. about 1500 a day for two days then it dies. The above stats of ctr and view duration are consistent stats with my 2-3k vids and honestly close to some of my 50-100k vids, although thats only a few. After day two I altered thumbnail and title a few times.

Please try to make shorter videos to get more views and a better retention 🙂 for example, we know that titles shouldn't be too long and not boring. It's ok to mention them but let's keep it to 1 min max for those 2 points. Thanks
