If you play a mirror match against another happy chaos, the character intro is them high fiving and complimenting each other as they walk by and then talking about playing cops and robbers and one asking if he can be the protagonist.

Ram is an artifial clone of Valentine, hence her full name being Ramlethal Valentine. Her almost robotic, no-nonsense personality is a stark contrast to that of her sisters/other clones, Elphelt Valentine. Ram was created to be a weapon first and foremost, and after a scuffle with Sol she has been put under the care of the Kiskes, where she is now a brigadeer leader serving with Leo Whitefang. Also she loves hamburgers. A very funny interaction circle with Ram, Elphelt and Sin, is that the two girls accuse Sin of eating their lunch, and Sin just goes "yeah, what are you gonna do about it?" Happy Chaos is technically the big bad of the guilty gear universe. He is the first mage in existence, holding unimaginable amount of power, which he uses to do anything from petty pranks to leveling skyscrapers in an instant. Life is a stage, and humanity are the actors. He does not care, as long as the drama keeps going, and humans keep winning, he is willing to be the antagonist. He also has a weapon that is a powerful artifact capable of immense destruction... which he doesn't use, instead he uses a gun. Which he made. Like a deadass normal gun.

Also a small adenum: in the strive world there is a looming cataclysm, something that might destroy the whole of humans and any living being. 2 of the big bads of the series (I-No and happy chaos) try to change this future, by making mankind stronger by being "the big evil", hoping they will prepare the world for that "thing". That doesnt mean he doesnt enjoy playing the villain of course, but happy chaos actions also come from the live and admiration he has for mankind and how chaotic and unique all them are

3 absolute bangers packed with so much emotion and yeah happy chaos is probably the most powerful in the series aside from a few instances maybe, they choose to use a gun instead of their magic because they'd find it boring but he is what you'd call godlike He knows so much information that he doesn't consider himself human anymore and his theme represents his kind of fleeting and fickle nature but also what he ultimately values, the "blue sky" that only comes about after the "violent storm"

Happy Chaos is a best described as a "theater director" villain, or maybe a deity who treats reality as screenwriting. He's not evil, but he knows everything and is incredibly bored. So instead of literally being the bad guy, he plays the part of "bad guy" for the benefit of everybody. He stirs the pudding so it doesn't burn.

Happy Chaos is an interesting character. In a nutshell, he's an absurdly powerful mage-- the first, in fact-- and is responsible for just about every major event that's happened in the series to this point, either directly or indirectly. Not all, but most. He has a very simple philosophy, which you can hear in his song. "When the violent storm is over, the blue sky is more beautiful than ever." He genuinely believes that life is sweeter with conflict and strife, because it makes you appreciate the quiet after the storm so much more, and he's more than happy to push the world into those conflicts, and even play the role of the villain, if it means seeing that beautiful blue sky when the violent storm is over. Not good, but not quite evil either. He simply plays the role he feels best suits him, when needed. To quote the madman himself... "I can be anything you want, or nothing at all. But I do exist."

It would be awesome if Guilty Gear got an anime some day. Xrd and Strive do have story modes that you can just watch like they're movies, but since they are in-engine and do feel low-bugdet at some parts, they do leave a lot to be desired. When I look at the Xrd Rev 2 and Strive Intro and the animated music video for Find Your One Way, I'm just thinking "How cool would it be if we had an entire series like that".

Wow, how are you so damn spot-on with these, like apart from some semantics and additional context, you are completely right! Ramlethal is not actually a robot, but rather a Valentine, an artificial super-powered human created by the Universal Will, a malevolent AI from another dimension to help in its quest to destroy humanity. But apart from that it's exactly as you said, she started to see the beauty in the imperfect world and its foolish humans and turned on her creator. Completely right with the female vocals representing her creator too! Happy Chaos, oh boy, he is something. His title in the game is "Saviour of Humanity, the Gunslinging Broken Messiah". He is the first and most powerful mage in the world, the cause of pretty much every problem in the world, but also the origin of their solutions. He created the Universal Will to protect humanity (actually, that kinda makes him Ramlethals grandfather), but it went haywire and decided to destroy it instead. He then granted humanity magic to help fight against it, before being trapped by Universal Will in its dimension of pure information and stealing the powers of a newly manifested god (long story). The combination of godly power and being trapped in pure information for decades made him go sort of mad, or as he is described in the story, a being that is "too perfect". He does not put anything above anything else now, everything has the same value to him, and really the only thing he cares about now is making life a bit more interesting. He is the villain in the newest game, but as his character profile states "He could just as well end up on the side of good". He has decided that he will take whatever role is needed in the great play of life to make it interesting, and damn if he doesn't succeed in it! And last but certainly not the least, Millia! No surprise, you were spot on with her too! She is a former member of the Assassins Guild that raised her, but is now seeking to create her own life free of its burdens. Well, almost, as she is still bound to the forbidden beast Angra that inhabits her hair and gives her her powers, but overall Angra doesn't seem to be too big of a bother in her life. Amazing analysis as always, can't wait for the next one!

I mean, I'd say The Original, before he became Happy Chaos, does have a bit of tragedy to him. He basically invented god, only to have the god he invented go rogue almost immediately and destroy the world, and it was clearly not something he wanted or intended to happen given that was Ariels deliberately misinterpreting her own operational parameters. The Original also became Happy Chaos to begin with in an act of self-sacrificing compassion, because he saw that the power that was gathering in I-No was going to destroy the entire universe. That said, if you mark Happy Chaos as somewhat distinct from The Original, a new entity that came into existence after that point, then yeah I'd say that HC himself is only involved in the tragedies he causes and doesn't really have the ability to be subjected to tragedy anymore. No ties, no connections, no concerns and all that. But The Original's story is absolutely a story of the best intentions burning to ashes, it's inherently tragic.

You're pretty spot on with Ram. She's a Valentine, a clone of a woman named Aria Hale and she was initially given minimal emotions, having been created to threaten humanity and get killed off as a diversion by her "mother" the Universal Will (who wants to wipe out humanity and replace it with her own version.) However, minimal emotions doesn't mean no emotions, and after getting her ass kicked and captured by the protagonists, her "sister," Elphelt Valentine (who was working against the Universal will at the time) and the other characters (perticularly Sin) would manage to breakthrough to her with puppies and burgers and love. She even has a dog! It's to the point that when "mother's" assassin (Bedman) was ordered to kill her, he couldn't bring himself to do it cause he considered her to be essentially a little girl emotionally, not the emotionless disposable tool he was told she was. By the time of Strive she's very much on humanity's side and is now a member of the military, particularly under the command of Leo, who she looks up to due to his charisma and personality. She's currently trying to get Nagoriyuki (the main boss of Strive in the base game and first season of DLC), a vampire who has been traveling alone in this strange new time period, to join with people and understand he has a place in this world. Faust comes into conflict with her in his story mode, each thinking the other has bad intentions for Nagoriyuki before realizing they both want to reach out to him in their own way. Happy Chaos is a hard character to pin down. In the backstory of GG, an alternate layer of reality, "The Backyard," was discovered by an incredible sage, "The Original." The Backyard, essentially the sheet music for the symphony that is reality, is volatile if not utilized correctly and is essentially pure information. It was the Original that created the Universal Will (which was intended to help humanity) and taught magic to the world. However, he'd be betrayed by the Universal Will and fused with godlike power and seasled away inside her, growing mad with the information and power he possessed. Eventually he'd overhear plans for the creation of a Valentine named "Happy Chaos" and, liking the name, would take it for himself. After being unsealed from the Universal Will, he'd set out to help I-No regain her godlike powers, thinking that humanity needed further strife and problems to overcome to not stagnate. He sees good and evil as equal, nothing is important to him and everything has a purpose and he loves it all. He doesn't want to be the main character, nor does he want to be the main villain, even if he's causing international incidents by raiding the white house and taking multiple world leaders hostage and launching nukes for his goal of propping up I-No as the real final boss of Strive's story. He thinks I-No, whether she succeeds in her plans or is foiled by the heroes, has the best chance for helping humanity grow and for the future to be as not boring as possible. He's a being with godlike magic that barely uses it in a fight because it's more fun to use a plain ass gun he's not even that skilled with to fight. He literally has to concentrate to aim for his gameplay. He has to reload. He's got a move that takes HP. He's laidback and does whatever he pleases cause he's so smart that by the time he's decided what to do he already has a multistep plan involving going to unleash an ancient vampire samurai and raid the white house to unleash forbidden technology and play the world's most wanted criminal like a fiddle. He's pure. He's broken. His story mode when he was added as a player character has him working with I-No (or at least trying to), trapped in a broken alternate timeline, to try and reach the main timeline again and have more fun. He exists. Humanity isn't special it's just another species but all these people and their lives and the chaos is so beautifully unimportant. Millia is a character that's been around since the first game, and your analysis is quite close. In the backstory, she was taken into the assassin's guild by it's new leader, Zato-1. She was given a forbidden beast that lets her use her hair as a weapon. She was one of the top members of the guild, starting a (very toxic) relationship with Zato. However, Zato's continued working away at an morality the guild had, and the relationship being very toxic, would drive her away. The guild doesn't accept resignations. She's pursued by Zato, but his own forbidden beast begins to take control of him, so she's forced to mercy kill him. Despite this, she'd find difficulty living a peaceful life, haunted by the feeling she'd end up losing control like Zato and unable to adjust to peace having been raised to kill, eventually making peace with the guild and beginning to work with them again. Zato would be revived, albeit very emotionally stunted, and that would pull her back into working with the Guild, hoping to become its leader and reform it. By the time of Strive, the guild has actually been formally partnered with military and absorbed into it, and she's become leader of the Bureau, now being Zato's superior and acting as the kingdom's intelligence agency. She's a character raised to be an assassin and fell in love with a superior, but had to leave when things got too toxic. She tried to leave it behiind, but was brought back in, unable to live anywhere else. She's afraid she'll fall into the same traps as her predecessor, but strives for things to be better, wanting the Bureau to work legitimately and with moral purpose and NOT having a relationship with someone that is her underling.

I came back to this because I think it's so interesting how you called the tone of Drift a "musical." Because of how much Happy Chaos values the themes of a "story". During the story of Strive he refers to himself as an "antagonist" because that's his role to play, and he likes using euphemisms involving roles or events in a story. He sees the whole world as a stage, and he's just the one having the most fun playing his part.

loved your videos, really appreciated that you took your time to make this, ive been following for quite a while, its rare that i say this but you should definitely check out "just lean" which is johnny theme, other than that i definitely think you should check out granblue fantasy relink in general, the music and the game has been stellar for most people, one of the music i recommend is its ed theme "Good Night, Good Morning" by Nao Taoyama, and if you arent thinking of playing it/care about the lore, why not check the cutscene because personally it looks insane

The themes can play during fights depending on settings, if you dont change anything then the fight will allways be on a stage associated with one of the characters and said characters theme will play, but you can also choose certain songs and stages in the character select screen, this game has a sort of jukebox mode so you have access to allmost every song from the series history, so when i dont wanna hear one of the strive themes atm you can choose one of the equally great themes from older games.

Happy Chaos is the combination of being the most powerful person in the world, just wanting chaos and entertainment. One of the interesting part of Ramelthal song, it uses a lot of esperanto in it ( a constructed language, technically not native to anywhere ) to represent the fact she's technically alien to the world. She's not exactly a robot, but she was made by one.

I love Ramlethal, my absolute favorite character in Guilty Gear. I completely fell in love with her after going through Xrd's story. The character growth she went through in that game alone was just so inspiring to me. She was originally posed to be the villain of Xrd, created and sent to destroy the world, but through her bond she developed with Sin, Sol, and her sister Elphelt, she realized that the world was something that should be preserved instead of ended, so instead of being the main villain, she ended up becoming one of the heroes, no longer an emotionless robot, but growing a heart and becoming a person. It's an old, tired story that's been told over and over again, but I just loved the way it was delivered. Shame on me, though: although I'm a GG fan, I don't often pay much attention to the music in it. I immediately recognized Ram's theme though, and I was surprised to see it was actually hers lol. Reading the lyrics though, it makes sense. And that song goes through so many changes over the duration, what a literal epic! Oh, and if you're still wondering how to pronounce her name, it's "RAM-leh-THAL", with the most emphasis on the first syllable and no emphasis on the second.

While you're right about the woman voice being a sort of creator the voice didn't go away. A cool detail in the song is that the female voice just starts holding a constant note during the parts where the male voice (that represents Ram) is basically trying to convince her that the world and humanity are worth saving and to give them a chance. Basically it's her mother just drowning her out and ignoring her pleas for mercy on humanity's behalf.

i love happy chaos because he falls into this weird area where he's definitely a villain, but he's kind of rooting for the good guys to beat him. he believes that by giving humanity an adversary to rise up against (himself) he can lead them to grow stronger

I hope she checks out Ramlethal and Giovanna's voicelines on their differing opinions on Leo - i know it's kind of spoilery, but i find it hilarious. To answer Georgie's theories, Ram is basically a biologically enhanced clone of Valentine (who was a clone herself) and Ramlethal Valentine was solely created for the purpose of triggering the apocalypse in GG: Xrd, serving as a minor antagonist alongside her "sister" Elphet, but after being defeated by Sol and being abandoned by the BBEG for getting attached to humanity, she basically had to rediscover their purpose - which happened thanks to a good burger. Happy Chaos is basically Prometheus + Jesus fusion... except they went insane. He is the reason humanity can use magic as he gifted the power to them, but unfortunately he has existed for so long that he ended up kind of apathetic to nearly everything, with the two exceptions being making life exciting and seeing humans overcome challenges, but this manifests in a warped mentality - e.g. the fastest way to get someone to appreciate life is to try to kill them. He is the main antagonist of Strive, but is so powerful that he intentionally handicapped himself by limiting his magic and only using guns... which are ironically weak replicas of a gun he has that is capable of potentially destroying cities. He's nice... in a twisted way The last on the list is Milia Rage, who is basically on a journey of self-acceptance, after having to choose between personal morals and the family she found in the group of assasins that found her as an abandoned baby and raised her, with her joining their ranks when she was older. She has hair powers due to taking part in a dark ritual that cost her the ability to have kids in exchange for her hair being possessed by a demon, allowing her to manipulate her hair as a weapon. She became an ex-assassin after defeating and killing her lover who was the leader of the group, but is haunted by both her regrets and her resurrected lover. By the start of Strive, she is starting to come to terms with losing part of her humanity and her past.

Valentine lore is pretty hard to get an immediate grasp on, but the connecting thread between all of the valentines is their varying levels of connections to the scientist Aria Hale, who went on to become the Command class Gear Justice. They also all are capable of fusing with Justices corpse, and in fact that was always their purpose. The original Valentine, as well as Elphelt and Ramlethal were all created by the Universal Will in the backyard. The Universal Will is a robot created by a philospher known as the Original, referred to as such because they originally discovered the backyard as well as magic. The Original created TUW and sent it to the backyard to study, with the directive of protecting mankind. Eventually TUW became confused on what a human was, and ended on the conclusion that real humanity did not exist yet. At that point it sought out to create its own humanity, as well as to exterminate the existing "redundancies" aka people. They created a human vessel for themself named Ariels, and managed to ascend to the highest political position of powernin the whole Guilty Gear World: the Sanctus Maximus Populi. Essentially the pope but with less religion lol. Ariels plan was multifaceted but Ramlethals role in it was to act as a distraction by declaring war on humanity, and then kill Sol by self-destructing. Instead she got captured and subjected to Sin Kiske (Ky Kiskes 5 year old half Gear son whom he had with Dizzy. Long story just go with it for now lol), and his version of "interrogation" which ended up being him trying to get her to smile. He slowly but surely opened her up. Originally she believed she was just a tool for her mother to use, but she was able to awaken to her emotions and realize that she was in fact unique thanks to Sin as well as her sister Elphelt. Now her and Elphelt live with the Kiskes, essentially being both being adopted daughters, and Ramlethal joined the Illyrian army and is doing a great job. She loves her friends, her puppy and CHEESEBURGERS. I've described Happy Chaos in so many comments and I still never quite know where to begin with him. He is The Original. Or he was, at least. Before he lost his mind. It's unclear what happened to him but after creating The Universal Will he disappeared at some indiscernable point, some time between 1999 and 2074 presumably (the timeline of the games begin in the 2170s). Then one day I-No just, pulled him out from between Ariels boobies, and he was Happy Chaos now. The name Happy Chaos comes from the name of an unfinished Valentine unit that Asuka was building to compliment Jack-O, the other Valentine he created. Jack-Os purpose was to make Aria (aka Justice) human again, and simultaneously stop Ariels from using Justices power for her plan. Happy Chaos on the other hand was created to restore I-Nos humanity. That Valentine unit however was never completed, but The Original heard Jack-O speak about it and decided to steal the name for himself. Ok I have to do a little I-No lore to explain why she went and pulled Chaos out of Ariels so bear with me. I-No is the result of the hopes and dreams of humanity for a brighter future during the crusades, manifested into the body of a single magical foci in the backyard, which became I-No. A being severed from the rest of the universe, granted unbelievable power. The Original found her in the backyard and started shitting bricks. He took half of her powers because he knew she'd be a threat to the whole universe if she kept them. At that point The Original basically became I-Nos other half. He pulled Happy Chaos out of Ariels because she wanted her power back to enact her plan, and he obliged her because he thought it sounded like a fun idea (that's not a joke that's just how Chaos is). Chaos, as he is in Strive, is a pure being, a being to which good and evil cease to have meaning. He believes things only exist because they're needed for something. For example he believes the omelette came before the chicken and the egg, and that the chicken exists to make the egg, to make the omelette. He obliged I-No because he believes he exists to do just that. He also believes that he exists to be mankinds antagonist, to give mankind a reason to progress forward. If the shield exists to stop the sword, then he will become the strongest sword there is and force humanity to create the strongest shield. To put it bluntly, he stirs the pot to create drama because he believes that's his purpose. Every Strive character has a little flavor text title on the character select screen, and Chaos's is "Gun-slinging Broken Messiah". Broken Messiah is definently a fitting description. In the 1990s a chivalrous vampire named Slayer, the last of his kind, founded the assasins guild, an organization commited to the liberation of the people by taking out corrupt dictators. This guild survived for hundreds of years all the way to the time the Guilty Gear games take place, but along the way the guild lost its original vision in favor of blood money. Slayer left the guild out of disgust, and the guild fell into the hands of Zato-1, a womanizing, cruel, sadistic man who would do anything for more wealth. He brought Millia Rage into the guild, taught her the art of killing, fell in love with her, and together they both made pacts using the forbidden magics to aquire a symbiotic organism known as a forbidden beast, which act as a natural enemy to Gears. In Millias case, she sacrificed her hair to aquire the forbidden beast Angra. Zato got a pretty raw deal with his beast, but Angra seems relatively docile and doesn't give Millia much trouble overall. Regardless, her relationship with the guild ended up being extremely complicated. She both loved and hated Zato, hated that the guild was so twisted and dark, and hated that she had the training of a cold, emotionless assasin burned into her. She eventually left the guild, and also eventually killed Zato some time during the events of GGXX. She couldn't quite shake the guilds hold on her tho, but instead of letting it all eat away at her she became part of an initiative to bring the guild out of the darkness, back into the light. She succeeded and ended up becoming head of the new guild, which was absorbed into the Post War Administration Bureau. During the events of Strive, her and Zato play a hand in stopping the catastrophy I-No and Chaos plotted. But wait, ZATO??? HE'S ALIVE??? definently react to his theme next, and I can go to town explaining how the hell that happened, and I promise the explanation is pretty cool lol.

Since I havent seen anyone break the characters down yet, I'll attempt to format this in a readable way, apologies for yall with reading disabilities: Ramlethal Valentine is an artificial being created by the Universal Will (an AI created by The Original/Happy Chaos with the task to grant humanity eternal happiness, which had gone haywire not recognizing humanity as “true humans” and thus trying to destroy it to create its idea of real humans), being made to destroy humanity but definitely not meant to succeed and instead just to be a distraction to buy time. Ramlethal herself is a very aloof and obedient little daughter, totally unwilling to go against her mother's orders. When she finally meets Sin Kiske, son of Ky Kiske, he decides to attempt to show her the good parts of humanity, as she tended to see it as just imperfect beings living horrible lives with tragic and disgusting motivations. Bedman (the first one from Xrd's story) comes in to give her new orders, asking her what she thinks of her mission. Giving the usual "I don't have emotions, I'm not allowed to, I was created to be completely un-unique and easily replaceable, just like my dog," bedman watches her say this while also feeling attachment to the dog, and decides "Alright, the only way to teach you is the hard way" and obliterates her dog from existence and replaces it with an exact copy. Ram doesn't react until she beckons the dog to her, to which the dog is afraid and doesn't give its usual reaction, letting her realize "It's not the same dog, it's unique," leading to "Therefore, am *I* unique?" Sin also helps by treating her to food, which she states she doesn't need any more of besides the basic necessities, before she has a good burger and realizes that a good tasting meal is also nice to appreciate about life. All of this culminates in her defying her mother, questioning if humanity truly deserves to die, despite their faults and imperfections. The song kind of describes as much. On to Happy Chaos, this one's a doozy, so bear with me. HC was, at first, the very first man to create a way for ALL of humanity to use magic, basically allowing for a replacement for the electronic tech humanity had to destroy and outlaw to prevent disaster. He also created the Universal Will as stated prior. He then tried to stop the Universal Will by going into the Backyard (The realm made of pure information), going mad in the process to become Happy Chaos! I am severely paracphrasing here, so if you want more details, go to the wiki. Happy Chaos, being nearly omnipotent and driven mad by the knowledge he gained, gains the realization that life is just a stage for him to play with. And so, he orchestrates a massive amount of random bullshit which results in Asuka R Kreutz being held responsible for destroying Japan and several other crimes, all while he sets up something to do with I-No, which is later revealed to be some kind of godly powerful time witch. Happy Chaos wants humanity to have some drama and excitement, and he's perfectly willing to be the villain for humanity to triumph over (hopefully), while he helps I-No attain godhood, hoping that she will get to experience the joys of life again in the process. Cue the Strive plot. Millia Rage was an assassin raised to be host to a weapon which dwells in her hair. She was taught later in life by Zato-1 and soon after they fell in love. While Zato was perfectly content with being the leader of the Assassin's guild, Millia wanted out, and broke herself out, taking the hair demon and fighting Zato in the process. She felt horrible about it, but it had to be done. Later, when Zato is sent to capture her, she kills him. Later she goes on to become a government intelligence agent, but as Zato gets ressurrected, she has VERY mixed feelings about him due to their past and his lack of ability to have emotions, but she decides he's harmless enough and that his retained loyalty to her (out of love) is enough to keep him from being a problem, so she lets him join the intelligence agency. Her whole song is about her trying to retain her sense of self worth after what she did as an assassin.

btw happy chaos is actually the main main antagonist and the most powerful character in the series by far. he's just a little silly goofy and sees life and humanity as a story that he can play a part in. which he's chosen to play the antagonist as. Happy Chaos is not a good dude to put it lightly, he's like if Vash had been microdosing terrorist juice. He doesn't care about anything or anyone, and his only motivation for doing anything is to cause "drama" for his own entertainment. Usually in the form of literally obliterating whole countries...because he did that. He's also both directly and indirectly responsible for most of the cast's traumas

@@georgieegames The Trails games are all one long ongoing series, yes. Of the games currently released in the West, it basically goes: Trails in the Sky 1-3, Trails From Zero, Trails to Azure, Trails of Cold Steel 1-4, and Trails of Reverie. It is a *very* long-running series, and each game is roughly 60 to 80 hours of gameplay, which can sound like a lot but it's honestly some of the best written games I've ever played.
