Best way to summarize these three songs in short: Anji Mito's "Rock Parade": Local Japanese man goes to festival as loving malewife to Baiken, gushes about her literally forever. He's in love, if it wasn't obvious. Testament's "Like A Weed, Naturally, As a Matter of Course": Local non-binary Gear has lived enough hardship being controlled, tossed around and somehow surviving straight up death, and is just gonna vibe for the rest of their life. They've done enough, it's time to see the world and have a good time. (Queen) Dizzy's "Radiant Dawn": Gear treated as monster in childhood, forced into isolation and hunted as a bounty ends up thrust into the position of Queen married to Ky Kiske (who previously hunted Gears), now working alongside him to promote peace after centuries of global war. She doesn't know much but she'll do her best and trust her family.

Its a nice coincidence that testament and dizzy ended up in the same video, they have some interesting history together! To keep it simple, they found each other when they were both pretty vulnerable. Testament became her sort-of guardian and staked their life on protecting her, though eventually they realized it wasnt healthy for either of them. This was a few years before strive’s plot and nowadays they seem to consider each other to be family. I adore them both as characters, their connection is a really sweet story :) I love hearing your thoughts on these themes, its nice seeing someone do some genuine analysis and have fun with it!

You're right about Anji, mostly! The 'two small footsteps' are him and Baiken as children, at a festival the night before their home is attacked. The 'dark dawn where even the adults sleep' is... self-explanatory, everyone besides Anji and Baiken are dead. Baiken then goes on a path of revenge where nothing else matters to her, so the 'one footstep carrying two hearts' is Anji waiting for Baiken to give up her revenge quest and return to his side. He is lovingly referred to as Baiken's malewife usually. He's such a sweet guy. But yeah, this ties DIRECTLY into Baiken's theme! They're referring to each other in their songs, which is cute.

Starting off strong with Anji "Sex With A Man" Mito. Then Testament, the objectively coolest character in the entire game (how can anyone not find them cool as fuck they're awesome). And lastly, Dizzy, whose theme I cannot listen to without crying. It's such a good song.

Anji's story can be summarized pretty quickly, as though he isn't a main character in the series, he is important to the stories of characters like Baiken. TL;DR, after Japan was annihilated by JUSTICE, Anji and Baiken are some of the only survivors and move to a colony to be supported following their home's destructions. Anji spends his time making umbrellas but never forgets that his home was taken away. Baiken doesn't forget either, but she lets that revenge consume her person and she goes on a colossal mission to avenge her country against Asuka, the man she believed destroyed Japan (which he did, but under the belief it was for the greater good, as Japan was covered in sentient antimatter bombs that very well could have levelled the whole world). Anji doesn't follow her too closely but does support her, especially in STRIVE when she gives up her revenge in favour of being a good role model to a young girl named Delilah. Anji goes from making umbrellas to mirrors in this time, hinting that he helps people reflect on who they truly are. Testament was a child that was left destitute from the Gear attacks in the Crusades, but instead of being saved, the US Government kidnaps them and injects them with raw Gear cells among performing countless other experiments on them, turning them into an apathetic machine. Testament is thrown back into the world, where they are adopted by a very important knight called Kliff. Eventually, Testament is brainwashed by JUSTICE due to the Gear cells in their body, and creates the Second Holy Order Selection Tournament, a blood tournament where the winner would be given anything they want, as the supposed result of the tournament was to find someone to protect the world from JUSTICE should they ever be freed. In the end, Testament reveals themselves as the mastermind behind the tournament and, in a sacrifice, kills themself to free JUSTICE from their prison, but not before having to fight Kliff, the man who raised them; Testament kills Kliff in a heartbreaking scene because they don't remember that Kliff was their adoptive father. Eventually though, after JUSTICE's next defeat, Testament is revived and the brainwashing fades. They wander the world seeking purpose now that they have nothing left (ironically finding joy in doing literally anything (seriously, look up their hobbies)), and eventually find Dizzy, and the two become close friends. Testament goes on to be a wide moral compass for other characters. Dizzy, much like Testament, is a Gear. Some think she is the biological child of Aria (the woman that was turned into JUSTICE) and Frederick (Sol Badguy, assuming Aria was pregnant during the time she became JUSTICE), but this is unconfirmed. She was hunted down for years and years after the Crusades. Ky, the blond man, was a very important knight and hunted Gears, but after seeing that Dizzy was genuinely kind to him, he took pity on her, fell in love with her, and quietly crowned her as Queen. She's a lovely woman that fully adores her husband and their hybrid son, Sin. You're right that she's immensely strong, because in Xrd, her instant kill move actually always misses, but it causes an explosion so terrifying people automatically have to surrender. But, yes, her two wings turn into guardians that subconsciously protect her: Necro, the skeleton-like shadow, that is completely willing to kill people that wrong Dizzy, and Undine, a benevolent woman-like shadow that coddles and protects Dizzy from the outside world that hated her - both of them love Dizzy and want to support her, but do so in polar-opposite ways. She's going to be playing a slightly more integral role in the series with the DUAL RULERS anime that'll be coming out soon, as her son, Sin, is one of the two protagonists (the other being Sol, her technical father), and, yes, she's incredibly caring and maternal to everybody, earning her the nickname "Queen of Compassion".

Rock Parade really pops off for me in those final minutes, the breakdown and layered vocals are amazing. The combat animations for Dizzy in Strive show some development for her since her last appearance also, since she's clearly working in perfect coordination with the angel and demon in combat, but in the previous game she was often having to physically hold back the demon from going too hard and destructive.

Dizzy is very interesting. Before Ky met her, she was just a scared being lost in the world, constantly trying to run away from everyone (since yeah, she’s mad powerful and people deemed her an existential thread). But for Ky she would represent a monster, the guy spent like half of his life hunting and killing her kind, lost a lot of comrades during that time, so no wonder he’d hate gears such as Dizzy. And yet they fell in love, had a son, despite all odds. And a great part of Dizzy’s theme is her supporting Ky in trying to find himself torn between his family and his duties as a king and a leader to his people (most of whom are traumatised by gears). In many ways it’s not a paradise, but Dizzy is just happy to have Ky.

Quick little Dizzy fun facts I’m not sure if anyone else put down here yet If you look up Dizzy’s design in other games before Strive she looks very different. Her hair is at her sides and tied up, she has a lot of belts and tight fitting clothing and her two sentient wings, Necro and Undine, are much more physical and have actual faces rather than being black silhouettes. Dizzy used to restrain her power constantly because she’s basically a walking nuclear disaster and Necro and Undine served to protect her from harm. Now that Dizzy is more confident in herself and in control of her life, she dresses more loosely and comfortably while Undine and Necro take more of a backseat but are still here to help out. Dizzy is also part of the infamous Guilty Gear family tree. Dizzy is the daughter of Sol Badguy, the sorta main protagonist. She’s the wife of Ky Kiske, the rival of Sol Badguy and hilarious now his son in law. She’s the mother of Sin Kiske and is the current queen of a nation.

My favorite interpretation of Rock Parade (purely because of how funny it is) is that it's a song about how hard Anji wants to bang Baiken. Also yeah, Dizzy and Ky are married and Sin is their son. They're a really cute couple.

Let's go I've been waiting for this! Dizzy!!! I really love the theory you came up for Anji but nah he's actually a lot more simple but still really really cool. He has been on a journey to track down That Man just like Baiken has been, but where Baiken wanted revenge, Anji merely sought knowledge, his whole motivation in the story is just learning about the lost history of the world he finds himself born into. He's very wise and knowledgeable but at the same time can be a little clumsy, but I mean his dancing skills are unmatched. But yeah he's "friends" with Baiken, and he plays a big role in her story, and also lately hes been working for Chipp Zanuff who is that white haired guy. Chipp is cool you'll like him. The fans Anji wields are called the Zessen, and they're actually one of 8 components to a powerful weapon crafted by Sol Badguy called the Outrage. Other Outrage components wielded by playable characters are Sols Fireseal Sword which he has combined with the Flashing Fang to make the Junkyard Dog Mk.3, also Ky's sword the Thunderseal Sword. There's also Baikal and The Dominator which are two Outrage components that not much is known about, and the last two go unnamed but some places I've seen say that one of them is a dagger owned by Slayer. I prefer to say Testament is agender but nonbinary also works I don't rly fuss about it. The jist is that they've transcended humanity, and therefore gender as well. Most ppl use they/them for them but I know some people that alternate he/she since the song does that. Unlike Bridget, Testaments gender isn't really a big plot point it's just another detail to them. Testament was orphaned by the crusades but was adopted by Kliff Undersn, the leader of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights, and also just an overall total badass. Although they were a pacifist Testament was greatly inspired by Kliff and wanted to be just like him so they joined the Holy Order themselves but was killed during a mission, and their body went missing. Turns out they were converted intshe o a Gear by the PWAB and then sent out to fight Holy Order soldiers as combat testing. They ran into Kliff and got defeated, and shortly after their mind fell into the control of Justice as all Gears do. After Justice was sealed away Testament who was still under her control plotted to break her out. They staged a tournament to attract strong warriors whose blood could be sacrificed to break the seal, but when Sol won the tournament he also beat Testament too so Testament used their own blood instead, but then Justice was killed by Sol right after breaking free. Testament survived and was finally free of Justices mind control and felt immense guilt. They paid their respects to Kliff who had passed away during the tournament, and then they found themself in Hells Forest where they met Dizzy. Dizzy is the daughter of Justice, the Commander class Gear that brought humanity to its knees during the century long war known as the crusades. She has all the same powers her mother had, and when the world found out about her it was chaos, people were terrified, and a bounty was placed on her death. Everyone and their mother sought her out for many reasons, whether it was Jam who wanted the bounty money, Anji who wanted to learn more about the world, Potemkin who sought to escort her to Zepp, or Sol, who was on a mission to kill all Gears. Testament after seeing her struggle vowed to protect her at all costs. But when Sol made it there he of course had no problem getting through Testament. Sol was going to kill Dizzy until Ky (blond guy :3) arrived and butted in. He recalled a discussion he had with Justice during the fight at the tournament that shook him to his core, and he said that after seeing Dizzy he's convinced that Gears are not inherently evil, and he offers her a hand. She lived with the Jellyfish Pirates for awhile until the dust of the incident settled but then she went to see Ky who promised to show her the world, and they ended up falling in love and having a son named Sin. Testament since then has been just living a happy and busy life with all sorts of hobbies, like if you look at their wiki page their hobby list is comically long and includes things you would never expect lol. Living their immortal life to the fullest. I won't spoil the WHOLE series but Ky and Dizzy are now king and queen of Vialattea, a republic within Illyria where Gears live. This is a long comment but what's crazy is I had to leave out so many excellent details because this plotline is at the core of the series and it's just so well written, getting into the story of this series is something I just can't recommend enough, and I've definently left out enough to make that journey still super enjoyable. There's the Guilty Gear story Digest comics for free on Guilty Gears website, WoolieVersus's excellent fan-made story explained series, the story modes for Xrd and Strive are also both just visual novels/anime packed into the game essentially, you can just watch them, and the Xrd stories are all up on KZbin officially for free, but you'll wanna read the Digest comics first for sure. Dizzy was the character I wanted in Strive the most since getting into the series I've fr cried so many tears of joy over her from when she was first revealed up to now lol. She's simply peak, she's my 3rd favorite character right behind her son Sin and of course Bridget my beloved. Edit: Testaments little spirit things are Succubi, and they fight alongside them, one of them taking the form of the crow that they can use as a projectile, and the other actually gets munched on by the skull of the scythe in their intro and becomes the blade. Dizzy's wings are both sentient with mind of their own, both fighting to protect Dizzy regardless of if she wills it or not. The devilish one is named Necro and the angelic one is Undine. They had much more elaborate looking designs in the old games but there is both a game development reason and a theorized lore reason for them being just black and white sillohettes pretty much in Strive. The development reason is, well, Dizzy is always hard as shit to model and animate in these games lol so making Necro and Undine simpler helps. But for the lore end you could interpret it as being a visual representation of how they're more tame and under Dizzy's control in Strive compared to before. Dizzy has come a really long way in terms of learning to wield her powers.

regarding anji, japan was destroyed by justice (while being controlled by asuka) and very few people who were in colonies survived, including him and childhood friend and partner baiken. he has mostly come to terms with the tragedy and is trying to move forward and continue some of the culture of japan as well as live his life while baiken is consumed by her hatred and desire for revenge against "that man" as asuka was known at the time. anji is the only thing tying her to the world and is the only one preventing her from going on a suicidal revenge mission. he has been trying to help her move on to no avail for decades. funnily enough if both of them were alive when japan were destroyed they would have to be over 100 years old in strive to be children during that event.

@@stephen9827 If I remember correctly, Anji and Baiken both from Colonies, which is what left of Japan and it's population. It just happens that at time of their youth consciousness of Happy Chaos decide to stir some "drama" which lead to destruction of their colony and loss of their families and Baiken arm and eye, that land and it's people really can't catch a break. Ironically Chaos himself sees that as oopsy on his part - to much drama turned suffering for his tastes. Another thing that Anji can be as amoral as Baiken in her worst, it's just plays differently. While Baiken could be cruel revenge seeking monster, Anji could be absolutely uncaring trickster sawing discord and chaos for his own amusement, and working with any people to get what he wants. And by any I really mean any, in previous games he basically worked for Asuka who Anji himself believed was That Man that destroyed their home, until Baiken herself asked what the f*ck are you doing. Both Baiken and Anji serving as moral anchors to each other.

Guilty gear as a whole is peak fiction. Daisuke Ishiwatari has been doing this for over two decades. Before arc system works it was called team neo blood and during ggxx Daisuke also voiced Sol Badguy, takes inspiration from Freddy Mercury. I love Daisuke. My favorite theme in Strive would be Asukas but favorite character is Ramlethal, great video as well. Who is your favorite ggst character?

Been a hot minute since you were in my feeds! Still tickled at how close you get on the guesses too, if not spot on! So.... On Anji: He is on a journey after loosing everything I.E. his people. As he, like Baiken is Japanese. So like her, he's also looking for, "That Man"... not to get revenge, but because he wants to know WHY everyone e was destroyed by him. At least starting out. So for the longest time, he followed Baiken in her search and was ultimately her only real friend (despite how many times she'd threaten his life if he didn't leave her alone). During g this time, Anji had basically resolved to ensure that Baiken could find her closure and he could find the answers he wanted... then That Man turned himself in and the two basically were do e with their mission. So now Anji, still the staunch anchor and rock in Baiken's life continues to help her find her way in her now aimless existence. It's also implied that I the time two had been together that Anji low key fell in love Baiken but won't openly admit it to her. On Testament: They were a Human that was forcibly transformed into a Gear. Suffice to say, they weren't happy about being forced to, "become a monster" and wanted to revive Justice, the one being that almost destroyed humanity so the job could be finished. They failed to do this and went I to isolation soon after, witnessing numerous atrocities by Human ki d that made them resent Gumans more and more.... until they met Dizzy (yes THAT Dizzy). Dizzy had a level of innocence and good to her that Testament decided to become her guardian and protect her from the Humans that wanted to destroy her, only to find time and again that Dizzy didn't resent anyo e the way Testament did. The longer they spent time with Dizzy, the more they started to question if they were right in their hatred and eventually left Dizzy in the hands of people they could trust to do some soul searching, eventually discovering that the world and people have redeeming qualities they can enjoy, and that while there will always be people that hate Testament for what they are... they'll always be part of the world weather they like it or not, "Like a Weed, Naturally, as a Matter of Course" On Dizzy: Like Tedtament, Dizzy is a Gear (not an angel). She isn't just ANY Gear though... she's the daughter of Justice. The Gear that tried to destroy Humanity and Tedtament tried and failed to revive. Unlike Justice though, Dizzy didn't harbor a hatred toward Humans and absolutely hated needless violence. Luckily for her, Dizzy's power manifested in the form of Necro and Undyne (her wings) that would act independently from her to keep her safe from harm. Anytime a threat would appear l, Dizzy's "gusrdians" would manifest to deal with it, sometimes even to Dizzy's protests which lead to her fearing herself and what she was capable of, driving her to want to isolate herself. Which lead eventually to her meeting Testament who opted to become her protector. Unlike Undyne and Necro, Testament was more measured and diplomatic for Dizzy's sake. Opting to scare away threats if they could help it but constantly questionwhy Dizzy wanted to, "live and let live" when so many wanted her dead. So eventually, Testament found Johnny and May, who volunteered to become her new guardians so Tedtament could do some soul searching after the time they spent with Dizzy... and during this time, Dizzy eventually met KY in turn, who eventually fell in love with her and two become married, Dizzy become Queen of the nation that KY was eventually appointed the king of, and with so many people in her world that have accepted her with open arms despite what she is, eventually lead her to no longer fear herself and harmonize with Necro and Undyne, leading to her as, "Queen Dizzy". The character we know now.

My interpretation of Anjis theme is it's mainly about Baiken. From his first appearance to the most recent his life has revolved around her and this song feels like the embodiment of a personal promise he's made in pursuing the truth behind the tragic events that have happened in there lives (and all those dead or alive feom Japan) in order for them to have closure and finally be able to move on.

It's very funny that you accidentally paired up Testament and Dizzy in the same video :D After Testament died originally, they went to their father's grave and went through some events that led them to meet Dizzy and vow to stay by their her side. So Testament and Dizzy (way way back in Guilty Gear X) knew each other and spent a lot of time together. Eventually, they parted, with Testament traveling the world and finding hobbies to do and Dizzy going on a journey to gain control over Necro and Undyne (the black angel-like things that she fights with). The reason Dizzy is angel-esque is because she is a half-gear, the daughter of the first completed gear Justice who's mind was invaded by a malicious entity in a sequence of events that led to japan being obliterated by Justice, leaving nothing but a crater. This is also probably part of Anji's song, since he was a Japanese person raised in a colony after the destruction of Japan; possibly giving him the memories that he holds so dear and describes in his song.

Dizzy Is the daughter of a genocidal Bioweapon named Justice who was out to eradicate humanity. Her husband Ky was part of a Fighting Force who fought against Dizzy's mother and her armies. Testament was part of Justice's army who decided to be Dizzy's protector before she met with Ky.

to explain, in GG they used to have instant kills (think finishers like fatalities). In Xrd, her instant kill has that more demonic guy charge up an attack, she then knocks the demon guy down as it launches the attack. no, it makes perfect sense. You gotta refer to Testament with some kind of pronoun don’t you? You said it, they’re not human, so how could we apply a human concept such as gender by saying “she” or “him”? That’s why they’re nonbinary, they aren’t male or female, they aren’t even human, so it makes complete sense to go by “they”. If you disagree with this then you have to believe that you can only refer to Testament by name, and never ever use such a human construct such as pronouns. Also, again as I said, their theme song quite literally switches between male and female pronouns. “She doesn’t need a name to distinguish him” and then not 30 seconds later says “He doesn’t need a name to distinguish her”.

@@AlquimistEd He's applying a human concept to fictional character because the fiction is written by a real person and is inserted in the real world. Yeah, Testament isn't literally nonbinary in lore the same way IRL people are (although there definetly are possible analogies, but that doesn't matter to my point), but the presentation of the character's gender comes from gender dynamics from real life, and that applies to every characteristic of every character ever. That said, it would be possible to have a character like this without influence of the modern definition of nonbinary, but this being Guilty Gear, Daisuke is definetly aware of what he's doing. You can't see this paired with the choice of making Bridget trans in Strive and think it isn't intentional.
