Would be cool to log the map sensor on track and see if you get any positive air pressure (boost) from the new intake. The all motor ITB guys see about 1psi down track
@JETZcorp
@JETZcorp Жыл бұрын
Another advantage of the new intake setup, the headlight intake is no longer trying to pressurize the engine bay. You want air coming into.the engine bay across the radiator. When you bring it in from somewhere else, it's going to decrease flow across the radiator and make the cooling system work less efficiently. That was offset somewhat by the engine sucking up some of the hot air from the radiator, but that's obviously not ideal, plus that stops working while braking. With the new setup, the hood gets air only through the radiator, maximizing cooling flow.

My brother got his valve cover for his Ap2 S2000 powdered coated by Rock Star garage in Cali. His engine blew about two weeks later come to find out they outsourced the stripping on the valve covers and it was sand blasted instead of chemical stripped and never properly cleaned out. Never owned up to it or made it right so my brother ended up doing a k24 swap.

I love the new intake, the thing that worries me most is what happens when it rains... I remember a while back you actually soaked your filter during your race so now that u have an even more direct route to the filter whether that wont cause issues without a little drain hole?

I really like the idea of "mitigating" horsepower through a slightly more restrictive intake. Seems like the rally style of running a restrictor plate. A hole of x diameter can only flow so much air, but allows you to keep the afr targets more ideal.

This and also you'll get problems when it's raining. We did run a Ram-Air intake on our 318ti Cup cars and switched back to the original location of these two reasons. We had to clean/change air filters after almost every session because of track dirt and when it was heavy raining the air filter did get soaking wet.

Same effect as those clamps have, you can accomplish with 50 cents of zipties, just wrap them around frame when belt is in a right location. In the crash the belt wont go anywhere, if it was at the right position when tightening. But without clamping when you tighten your belt you could tighten in not enought, because the belt is in wrong position.

question: if the class you're running in also keeps a close eye on lap times to make sure no one is running a sneaky tune to produce more power than they should and therefore run faster than they theoretically should, why isnt a mod that changes the output of the car while on track legal in the class?

Not sure if getting rid of the velocity stack is the way to go, the sharp edge at the headlight might cause more restriction than you gain back by the ram air effect. Also not quite getting the explanation, you are getting less air in and also planning to run leaner at the same time? Wouldn't it make more sense to just detune the engine by ignition angle instead? You also might want to try a front 3-point strut bar if you haven't yet, made a noticeable difference on my DC2 even with street suspension.
