Hey, Strictly Skateboarding I'm looking forward into Skateboarding and I went to a Billabong store over at Deerfeild Beach, Florida and I tried riding on a Omen Sighting Longboard and I succeeded after a few mins with Kurt Hurley training me ( 98' X-Games competitor ) Do you think a Omen Sighting Longboard will be good as a beginner Skateboard?

Well longboard serves for a little bit different purpose than a regular skateboard... Due to its weight and size you won’t really be able to practice tricks but rather cruise and go for speed...

But Kurt Hurley told me to start off with a Longboard cause the longer the board the more stability I'll have. And the wheels of the Longboard are made of rubber and they are softer , rubber and have *thiccer* wheels. Unlike skateboards that have thin and hard wheels. Please, tell me your opinion! I want to start of the best as possible.

Rick B. Start off with an actual skateboard, you can order bigger softer wheels for it but you will get very frustrated and feel limited by your equipment if you get a longboard

@@rick-hj3jg the longboard would work fine starting off just to get comfortable, but like the other people mentioned you won't be able to learn tricks on it so eventually you'd have to purchase a skateboard as well, or just start off with a skateboard so it's just one purchase instead of two price wise. you can start off w small hard wheels too, but everything is all personal preference my dude. if in your gut you feel like you should start off long boarding and eventually get a skateboard and go from there, then do it. the other thing to keep in mind is the longboard might make it easier to start cruising on a skateboard but you'll still have to learn the feel of it bc it will be a lil different. just do what feels right.
