Is this just a problem with video games? I've worked in software dev at companies of varying sizes, I have never heard of a company using Discord 'gamertags', let alone making horrible edgy jokes and threats in a Discord server. Even some of the smallest, most creatively driven projects and companies still use a Slack with full names and professional emails. This entire thing seems so unprofessional and backwards.

Its a small studio problem, indie dev teams and freshly formed companies making their first game arent going to have the money or the time to have someone making sure their volunteer discord mods are behaving. They dont have hr or public relations teams.

Unpaid interns were also hired to the company through the same process. If you really are taking your project that seriously, and you don't have the budget to hire paid employees why not put the effort in to do that? We have literally seen the ramifications if you don't put in this bare minimum effort.

I tried OHD and its was kind of...meh? To start the map needs a huge revamp imo. Now to be fair I compare the game to squad witch makes it feel very bare bones, but my take is that it has a fairly long road ahead until its fun for more than an hour in my case. It is free though so that is definitely a HUGE plus! Hope it gets some dev love in the near future!

It's so crazy to experience this stuff. There is a massive amount of ego and elitism in the game-dev community. It's really strange because as an aspiring developer myself, I just love seeing what people are creating and are passionate about. Even when it may not be of the upmost quality the creative process I find incredible and do my best to make devs feel good about their journey. Cause it all looks like shit in the beginning lol. The threatening stuff is quite crazy. At least you're handling yourself well. I have to ask as well, did you get their ire after online chastisement for something they said? Usually crazy people just want to be left alone, or associate with other crazy people. I know a lot of people online have this knee-jerk reaction to try to correct what's "wrong" with other people but as adults in a society, sometimes we have to let things go. Also, don't wait man, file that lawsuit. Discord has permanent records and the records will be damning. Lastly, Ukraine having a massive Neo-Nazi contingent (that is openly advocating for Russian genocide) is very widely known, just not talked about on western media. Cause the Ukraine war isn't about Ukrainians, or democracy, or the threat of Russia to western Europe, its about preserving American hegemony, specifically the dominance of the Federal Reserve Note.
