may we follow the example of those who have come before us who lived their lives according to what our Lord has proclaimed!

never ceases to amaze me what we miss without the original Hebrew and Greek words, meaning and inuendoes. The culture and context is huge.

I heard a scholar say “to be poor in spirit” was to recognize your absolute need for Jesus because none of us are righteous without Him. We all sin & fall short of the glory of God. What’s your opinion on this?

The Bible Project's take here seems to focus on lowly social status or *earthly* position. But it's my understanding as I study that Jesus was actually speaking about *spiritual* depravity. Yes, powerless-- but powerless to save ourselves from our sin. Yes, mourn and grieve-- but grieve and lament over our wickedness. Our utter need for Him. And in that humble state, we will be blessed with comfort in His Holy Spirit and with righteousness before God and eternal peace with Him.

Yes, that is my understanding. Anyone can be poor materially, but they may at the same time have no care for their need for salvation. While a wealthy or powerful person may have a deep humility about this. Why would the Kingdom of heaven belong to someone just because they have no material wealth or have no earthly authority? Its about spiritual bankruptcy not monetary. David Guzik delves into this very succinctly. His free bible commentary is online.

Many believe there is a distinction between the kingdom of Heaven and the kingdom of Earth. That rabbit hole is too deep for me right now.

I personally think it encompasses what and Tim and John talks about but then also includes actual spiritual poverty for those who recognize it like Zachaeus, Joseph of Arimathea, Niccodemus etc

@@christinebrown7652 That’s my understanding also. Oertinger has a breakdown of the Psalters aligned with the Lord’s Prayer. It’s a good study. I also think there can be more than one message in each petition.

I feel in that state right now. Where i feel my inner energy(power) to do things is lacking. And Jesus is saying fortunate is me, for mine is the kingdom of heaven 😮 wow.

I've often wondered if 'the grieving' will be 'comforted' when God's kingdom arrives, because we will realize that we've actually lost nothing and no one.

When we fight with our own psychological defects we grieve them. It is the mistakes we have made, and the terms we have had to come to in order to live a reformed and dignified life.

My mourning is not for me, but rather what I see God's people doing. They refuse to stop sinning, knowing and teaching God's truth! 😢 How is this possible?

[25] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. [26] Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. ~Matthew 23:25-26

I wish we could see the video that is presented towards the end of the video where it talks about showing a description as a picture . Great message, thoroughly enjoyed . ❤❤❤

Makes total sense that the sermon was speaking about specific prophecies from the past and prophecies about the future that are yet to take place . I've always heard the sermon on the mount presented in allegorical terms. Just goes to show that the Old Testament is still crazy valuable.

In the Tanakh you find the rich meaning in every single word. I’ve always wondering how the New Testament would it be in Hebrew language,
