peoplepersone If someone is seeing the province name for the first time or trying to read it out loud for the first time, I can see how it might be a little tricky to get out lol Like the word Catatonic - I know what it means and how to use it, I know how it's supposed to be pronounced, I can read it but I could not pronounce it properly for years lol just wasn't happening. I also used to say Yew Nork even though I knew it was New York. Sometimes words just don't want to take the trip from thought to speech.

The one about the Maple syrup in Vermont - that IS the way it comes out of the sugar maple tree - it comes out as clear and sweet sap and it DOES drip into the buckets as the picture shows. Other times it will come out like a small stream of water depending on the weather. There are modern means of tapping the trees but we always used the metal spouts and buckets. Cooking the sap into syrup is very time consuming. We did it the old fashioned way of using a huge iron kettle placing it on a good sized pile of wood and then we'd go around to empty the buckets of sap into the kettle, light the fire, and keep a constant vigil making sure it didn't get too low or go out by keeping wood on it. It takes a lot of time to cook but the fun part was, if you wanted a good hot drink take the iron dipper (I just dipped my cup in!) and get a hot cup of the hot and sweet sap! - 😋 Yummy! When it was almost into syrup we'd finish cooking it on the kitchen stove and put it into canning jars!
