Usually when a Pokemon is given an ability, it keeps said ability in future games. But there are some rare cases where Pokemon lose their old abilities entirely. So today Matt and Elias are looking at all those cases. Which Pokemon got Shadow Tag in an alternate universe? What unconventional words are added to the Scrabble dictionary? thing is, Inner Focus is really good for Entei specifically, as the flinch block is nice, but ever since the ability was buffed to also block intimidate, it's even better for him as now he doesn't have to fear intimidate's

@@SirLucian Scrappy also got the immunity to Intimidate as well, Inner Focus Dragonite is a menace in VGC and I fully believe Dragonite should lose access to Extreme Speed because of Gen 9 VGC

are you talking about the championship battle where Genger vs ash Tauros if so then then attack wasn't earthquake it was the 1 hit ko move fissure but still flew up to avoid the last part of the attack

Vespiquen had three signature moves: Attack Order, Defense Order, and Heal Order. However, as of Gen 8, Heal Order was removed. No idea why.

Hisuian Braviary used to have Defiant as its hidden ability? Man, are we glad that got changed to Tinted Lens, one that allows it to spam Esper Wing with zero regards to type effectiveness (except against a dark type)

Mega Gengar did get banned from Ubers, National Dex Ubers. Apparently the addition of moves like Encore and Nasty Plot on top of it's absurd stats and Shadow Tag was too much. It's currently one of seven Pokémon forms banned from NatDex Ubers, if it gotten those moves earlier it would have absolutely been banned from Ubers. I'm still bitter about Chandelure, I know that Shadow Tag is broken but frankly I just don't care as broken shit can be fun to use.

For context, the others are Mega Ray, Calyrex-S, Koraidon, Miraidon, Xerneas, and Shedinja. Mega Rayquaza is Mega Rayquaza Calyrex-S and Shedinja are amazing when not held back by bad typing No clue why Koraidon and Miraidon are there Xerneas is a menace with Tera

@@AevitosTrath Thanks for that, I knew that, but just was trying to keep my comment brief and not ramble like I have a bad habit of doing. Trying to stay relevant. Apparently for the S/V mascots Z-Moves broke them, though Koraidon wasn't banned until it was able to learn Scale Shot. I haven't played competitive in a while, or anything past gen 7 but that's what it seems to be that broke them if I'm remembering the videos that I've seen. You thought that Choice Specs Miraidon in Electric Terrain hit hard, now give it a move with upwards of 180 base power that can just instantly delete pretty much anything.

4:25 I believe that was fully done as a nerf. If I'm not mistaken - there have been issues with Levitate being too powerful on Gengar, especially with Shadow Tag on its Mega. And obviously any later designs were grounded. Including Gigantamax one. It has been part of the Alolan rebalance. Parental Bond also got hit and on the other hand - Alakazam finally got it's 100 extra stat points it didn't have in XY (it was only Mega who got just 90; beside Pokémon like Beedrill and Mawile who got "more" than 100 through stat shift and powerful abilities). 9:15 After anti-Intimidate nerf, Inner Focus is more solid. 15:05 Vespiquen deserves it's Order moves to be back.

Fun fact: the original hidden abilities of the Legendary Beasts are the same as the original 3 Eeveelutions regular abilities. No idea if intentional, but it does reinforce the theory that the Legendary Beasts were the Kanto Eeveelutions or 3 Eevees before Ho-Oh revived them. Yes, I know that no one really says that Eevee could have been the Pokémon lost in the fires, but can you really see a Vaporeon or a Flareon dieing to fire?

@@JustRaii. ...I'm confused. The way you worded your reply doesn't make sense for what I commented. Would you mind explaining? EDIT: Unless you're talking about Flareon dieing in the flames if it doesn't have Flash Fire, then it makes sense though it took me a minute to get there. Even then, it is a Fire type that is said to be able to have its body temperature get as hot as 1700 degrees Fahrenheit while its internal flame pouch can get up to 3000 degrees. I doubt that it'd die from being surroumded by flames regardless of its ability.

I do still technically prefer the idea of 3 Eevees for this theory(I say technically since I like the entire Eevee family a lot) as being revived via divine power while granted the energies of the lightning that started the fire, the fire itself, and the rain that put out the fire feels like a similar-but-way-stronger version of using a Thunder Stone, Fire Stone, and Water Stone.

Vespiquen should have an ability that makes it so it uses its moves 6x while causing it to split the damage, allowing lunge and skitter smack to reduce attack and special attack to nothing, and air slash to automatically flinch.

Hisuian decidueye getting scrappy makes it an amazing shiny hunting partner because it can learn false swipe and still hit ghost types

Before Scarlet and Violet, I relied on Pangoro for this trick until SV axed them. Before X and Y? No Scrappy False Swipers for us; we had to settle for Foresight/Odor Sleuth + False Swipe. Although Gen 5 did give us the Ring Target to Trick onto other Pokémon, they gave us Scrappy Pangoro in THE VERY NEXT GENERATION, so Tricking Ring Targets probably didn’t last long. (With a brief return in SV before Decidueye became available.)

I like that the format of this video was more focused on being funny while still giving useful information Just to add something, in Gen 5, Gottitelle and Gothorita only had Frisk as his regular ability, but Gothita also had Competitive alongside Frisk. From Generation 6 onwards, the evolutive line as a whole has Competitive. Still, most of the time you would use it with Shadow Tag by context or not use it, so, no one cares

Vespiquen is a cool mon, especially in randbats (such an annoying thing to deal with), and Attack Order is one of my favorite movies in the game. Also, on the topic of games with words, I remember playing "Words on Stream" in someone's stream on Twitch before, and, for whatever reason, the words "Porn" and "Porno" were allowed in one of the rounds. I was losing my mind and nearly cried laughing, LOL.

Sheer Force doesn’t cancel out standard recoil damage, it only does so for Life Orb damage. The ability also doesn’t affect the damage that most of those moves deal

Entei loves Inner Focus in double especially after the buff that blocks intimidate allowing to see serious play in VGC. If Suicune or Raikou do see play in VGC they would also be running Inner Focus.

Intimidate immunity is really cool for Entei and flinch protection is good on Raikou, but I think Suicune would have made more use of Water Absorb via Surf spam rain teams than it does Inner Focus.
