Maelstrom is a Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (HoMM3) map included in the Horn of the Abyss mod (HotA), with a reputation for having an unpredictable and sometimes very punishing start, thanks to all starting heroes having Diplomacy and many opportunities to rapidly strengthen.

A real good tip to save some time watching is to skip one 10s every time the words "I think" are spoken, saves a whole lot every video and you don't miss a thing, also fits into the theme of doing everything needlessly efficient

If you don't know, when defending a town with one hero, just let him out with the fastest unit so when that town is being sieged, the hero will defend the town with all the army included those inside it.

I started on the map with your castle, so a lot of overlap in position, but it turns out so much is random it's barely the same game. You've got earth elementals where I had 100 War Unicorns for one thing. Also all my heroes have water walk for some reason

Yep, I think even start location can be quite random. No spoilers but there's an unclaimed castle in this series that was definitely my starting town on another attempt

Usually it's best to judge the sound level by the loudest section of in game audio in the recording and it's better to go too quiet than too loud. Already edited the next few vids but will see about going slightly louder in the later episodes

In horn of the abyss (HotA, the unofficial expansion that Norovo is playing here), there is a new secondary skill called "interference" that more or less replaces the "resistance" skill. In battle, interference reduces the opposing hero's spell power by 10%/20%/30% (basic, adv., exp.), effectively weakening their spellcasting.
