Every episode but I had no idea! Such a big boat! Seeing is believing. Also for me it's all about the word truss and truss systems. Not so much a nautical term but any boat has plenty ~ the spreader on the mast, the boom vang, and the bowsprit arrangement. Your "forebeam and longeron" is so cool. Thanks for sharing the details. Truss truss truss....... I don't know ~ for me getting this out in the open gives a view to an all new ballpark. The skills that you guys have. ~~ Bravo ! Thanks for sharing all of this. 〰✨🌿👍🌿✨〰. I have been following the construction of your cat almost since the beginning with the exact positioning of the two hulls. And I can certainly understand some of the design preferences you have made in light of your years of sailing experience. I can also understand the proficiency of gifted DIYers to be able to complete the boat renovation that you previously undertook. But where on earth did you obtain the knowledge and expertise, the familiarity with all the necessary materials and everything else involved in the monstrous project of building a boat from scratch? I am completely awestruck by what you have accomplished as, no doubt, are your other regular viewers.

What a beautiful boat to tool around in! Could make a solar panel based "bimini top for" extra range on sunny days. Might be interesting to see how much slide-out/fold-out solar harvesting could be done on that vessel and what it could do for range... Since windage would affect stability, being able to adjust the solar cells(trim the sails so to speak) would be important. You might end up "sailing" your solar harvesting eBoat!

@@quarlow1215 huh, that is a finger. I am talking about a rim of an item. Jessica and Matt had a habit of inserting an extra a into flange. I have teased them a couple of times during the build of their soon to be beautiful cat.

With the rudder being mounted higher in the protective channels on the sugar scoops, will it still have enough effective surface to control the boat adequately?

more impressive as each month goes by. I would guess those nose cones must be just right to track correctly while sailing. Are they neutral or toe in? out? left or right? would the track they make create strength a certain way?

question, when the boat is made at the mfg.. does the hull get made in a mold, and not in so many pieces as you are putting together. i am guessing that all the pieces that you have is because of shipping
@jaredjohnson8553
@jaredjohnson8553 Ай бұрын
Good stuff. I know the caps on the end don't really add buoyancy and are to hold the rudders, but I wonder if the extra length gives a slightly higher hull speed as well?
@MJSailing
@MJSailing Ай бұрын
Every bit of waterline length helps. Not sure if we'd be able to record a difference, but I'm sure an extra two feet helps

Matt & Jess very Awesome Catamaran will you use a Different Material For your Rudder Material? Will you Vacuum Bag the Rudders for better Strength! How About a Color Hybrid Fabric? (Carbon / Kevlar Fiber) Matt what weight material will you be using? Let me know in a Reply there Could be a Surprise.
@MJSailing
@MJSailing Ай бұрын
The factory sent us the rudders already, so luckily I don't have to worry about making that perfect foil shape. But they were infused and have a crazy amount of unidirectional in them. Our daggerboards are all carbon, but the rudders are just E-glass since the "kick-up" design helps to eliminate some of the dangerous impact loads.

Composite longeron and forebeam is a giant mistake, huge! Weight saved on such small components are not justifiable and way too little to have an effect on performance.
