Mobile Bay is home to numerous natural gas rigs and are almost always full of life. During the colder months, usually December through February, these rigs can be a great location to fish for Redfish, Sheepshead, and also White trout when our water temperatures are low. In this video a buddy and I literaly pull up to just one of these structures and catch our dinner in less than an hour!

As a kid, I fished the surf and bays around Grand Isle, LA. We'd throw a tandem 'spec rig' and catch white and speckled trout two-at-a-time. You can't freeze white trout; the meat is too soft, and they're mush when you thaw them. Fried fresh, like y'all demonstrated, they're hard to beat! God bless ALL of us! WWG1WGA

Best fried fish: 1. Sacaulait/crappie 2. Channel Mullet 3. White trout 4. Specks Love sinking the boat with whites. I’ll eat those fresh and put all the specks in the freezer for a slow month

We found out that you can vacuum seal them and they are very good at a later date….otherwise, eat them the same day you catch them! Great video again!

I use that slim Jim truck to catch really big bull bream in ponds. For white trout when they are biting hard you can use a strip of cloth sprayed with WD-40 and catch all you want. Great video.

I do like the "skin on" method. Red snapper is good fried with the skin on also. Scaling is a pain though.

Just a Googan from Tennessee, but white trout are some of my favorite salt water fish. In March we catch hundreds of them around Dauphin Island. Leave the skin on like you did I’ve found they fry up crispier and hold together better than removing the skin. Great video.

Ive heard people say that the horn on the rigs is to sinal that the rig is unmanned? . Why would they need to let people know that the platform is unmanned . Its a Fog horn for boats that dont have radar running at night or fog you can hear the horn a mile away but if its thick fog yòu cant see it until your very close. Therefore the FOG HORN . all light houses have a fog horn . This is no different from a lighthouse fog horn.

It’s definitely NOT a foghorn. You can’t hear it over the noise of your outboards, so it’s worthless as a warning to boats running at night without radar….but we’ve all got radar.

@@robgover8341 South Georgia, about an hour away from the gulf. Just never spent much time down there fishing. I don’t have a boat, but I go and fish from the bank when I get the chance. Never catch anything because I don’t know how to fish the area and don’t know anyone with local knowledge to help me learn. But it’s nice to get away and try.
