@@iona5439 I did, but the supreme court sided with the regular court. This happened like 5 years ago, since then the words to police from me without a lawyer are "No comment" and/or "Call my lawyer" and btw usually it's better to shut up and not say anything but "No comment" IF it doesn't worsen your situation. Remember when your talking to police you are ALWAYS helping them do THEY'RE job! You have the right to not say a single word in investigation. In court remember to plan everything with your lawyers, so there comes no suprises. Always take few xanax before court. That is the place you might want to talk and might need to. The earlier "No comment" statements in pre-investigation phase don't matter nothing. If you say something stupid they bring it up, not your right to stay silent. Good luck!

The one thing I saw with this interrogation, like Chris Watts.. is the detective gives her examples of what "could" have happened... which is what led to more lies. Also, the detectives didn't just sit in the silence with her.. they should have just let her answer. She's an empty canvas... she needs input from others to come up with a story.

It's a technique they use all the time. In part to get the person think that the cop still thinks they're a good person, so they open up. They admit they were at the scene of the crime. If they start admitting they've done it, even if it was "accidental", that's way easier to prove otherwise than someone standing firm they didn't do it or weren't there at all.
@Nina23024 жыл бұрын

@manda85124 жыл бұрын
It’s part of the “Reid technique.” It’s the most widely used interrogation method. It’s the step where you give the suspect a scenario that would let them maintain their sense of self (aka I’m still a good person, i just made a mistake). Sometimes they use that to trip up the suspect, for example “Did you murder him/her because you’re a psychopath or was it a mistake?” And the suspect will probably say “no, I’m not a psychopath!” To which the officer will say “so it was a mistake then?” Cops are REALLY NOT on your side!

Yeah... people really hated Kirk Nurmi, especially (even me, at the time), but he’s actually a really good guy. He was put in a VERY shitty position and forced to do his job to the best of his ability, and he did. I believe he was the only PD that was assigned capital cases at the time so he had no choice (not like any pd does), and Wilmott I believe was a private attorney appointed to assist (but she seems just awful; she’s still working with Jodi either pro Bono or being paid by her weird sugar daddy pen pals, and claiming Jodi was a “domestic abuse survivor” 🙄.) Nurmi did ask to be removed something like 5 times from the case, which the judge denied. He eventually gave up his career to speak out against Jodi afterward (when it couldn’t get her trial thrown out or cause any serious legal issues). He was warned that he would be disbarred for it, and decided he needed to do it anyway. He tried pretty hard to steer her from that defense strategy, iirc.

Small note, I've watched this case pretty closely. She didn't take those pictures to review "her work". They were taken by accident, likely because they were having a shower photoshoot when she decided to kill him. She had no intention of getting those pictures back and threw the camera in the washing machine hoping everything will be destroyed, particularly the pictures they took naked of themselves that day before the murder. They were snapped because of the camera banging around, so I don't even think she knew photos after the murder even existed. Or if she did, she didn't bother and thought they would get wiped just like the others. She just wanted to erase the ones before to remove all evidence of her even being there the day of the murder.

I don’t agree that she wanted to confess in this video. Never ever she would have confessed here, no matter what. She was thinking she had the upper hand. She always catched herself and went on playing her role. (In the whole trial(s) she also never took the blame and confessed that she truly did what she did, she always made up excuses.) She was playing a game with the detective. You can not motivate to confess a narcissistic psychopath by “the perfect choice of words”. Maybe you can bring some people to “rage confess”, but not in Jodi’s case, thats getting very clear very fast. He tried to enrage her or get her emotional with his choice of words (“jealousy”) but she did not “fall for it”. He was testing for her weak points the whole time, but did not find a way to truly crack her. If you know how malign narcs and psychopaths work, you know that it is not your fault if you can not crack them no matter how many psychological techniques you tried to use on them.
@luxmaggie4 жыл бұрын
What's funny is she thinks she has the upper hand but makes a bunch of mistakes in regards to words she uses. For instance anyone who says "I would never do that" instead of "I didn't do that" is guilty.

Wish you reviewed more of this interrogation! I watched the entire raw interrogation footage and felt the detective did a decent job, but after watching your review, I now see that he made some glaring errors which could have prevented him from getting her confession and avoiding such a long, tortuous trial, and prolonged suffering for the victim’s family.
@TotalContemplation2 жыл бұрын
Yes, he made errors. But I'm not convinced she would have confessed. Maybe she would have! But, she's one he'll of a narcissist. Those kinds of people will watch at a video recording of themselves doing the thing they're accused of, then look you dead in the eye and still deny it.

They should have said the pictures they retrieved from her camera showed her stabbing Travis. Would have loved to see the look on her face.
