The Sega Saturn is a fifth-generation home video game console developed by Sega and released in 1994. Known for its advanced hardware, the Saturn featured dual-CPU architecture and eight processors, which allowed it to deliver impressive 2D and early 3D graphics. Despite its innovative technology and strong library of games, including hits like "Nights into Dreams," "Panzer Dragoon," and "Virtua Fighter," the Saturn struggled commercially outside Japan. It faced tough competition from Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's N64, leading to its early discontinuation. Nonetheless, the Sega Saturn remains a beloved piece of gaming history, celebrated for its unique games and contributions to the industry.
Sega is a renowned Japanese video game developer and publisher, known for creating iconic franchises and pioneering contributions to the gaming industry. Founded in 1960, Sega gained prominence with its arcade games in the 1980s and later became a major player in the home console market. The company introduced several influential consoles, including the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive), Sega Saturn, and Sega Dreamcast. Sega's game library features beloved series such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter, and Phantasy Star. Despite exiting the console market in the early 2000s, Sega continues to thrive as a leading software developer, producing games for various platforms and maintaining a significant presence in the arcade industry.
Join me every video and follow me on my videogame collecting journey. I take you live hunting at the thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales, garage sales, on Facebook Marketplace scores, etc. to add more games to the collection. This starts with one trip to the thrift store and grows from there. Watch to see where this leads and the AMAZING finds I score!!
This upcoming week will be AWESOME and I cant wait to share!

I have a great story involving X-Men: Children of the Atom on Saturn. Back in 2017 my first official job was working at a local small business video game store. They had gotten in a CIB copy of Children of the Atom. Well one day I looked up gameplay of it on KZbin, and loved what I saw so I had to have it! I think (at the time) we had either $120 or $100 on it. The employee discount was 20% so I paid like $76 or $78 for it. Couldn't be happier! Fast-forward to now I no longer work there (the store moved, the owner sold the business, and that is the last I've heard of it) BUT I still own Children of the Atom in my Saturn collection! Glad I still do too! I really love the Sega Saturn and think it is such a criminally underrated console!!!

As the Saturn was exiting the North American market in the late 90s, I made sure to grab the final five games: Panzar Dragoon Saga (~$550), Burning Rangers (~$500), Magic Knight Rayearth (~$450), House of the Dead (~$280) and Shining Force 3 (~$135). Those prices are from a year ago, not sure what they are worth today.

I didn't grow up with a Saturn but got one later to check out and collect for; it's a pretty neat system and they had some solid titles (some of which are better known as PS1 titles). We've got a couple of these games and it's always fun to watch videos like this because we don't follow or care about value, so we'll see titles that worth something and just sit there like, huh, we've got that one; who knew! lol Also, I often like to note that the 3D Saturn controller looks weird, but is surprisingly comfortable to use!

Nice collection! I am missing a few of those games, but I do have some heavy hitters (Saga, Rayearth, Rangers, MM8, some imports, etc.). Do you have any imports? The Saturn is freaking incredible for imports!

I was lucky enough to have a Saturn almost 1 year before it was released in the UK and had Christmas Nights into Dreams, Clockwork Knights, Sega Rally, Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter with it. At the time it was amazing to me, everyone at school wanted to come round mine and play on it and as time went on I built up a collection of fantastic games for it including Command & Conquer, Euro 96, Theme Park and so many others… But… I stupidly traded it with a friend at school for a PlayStation and some really quite rubbish games just because most of my other friends had PlayStations and I didn’t want to be the odd one out 🤦‍♂️ If only I had known then what the future would hold and the value of things I would have kept it. 😔 Still, it’s fun now as an adult rebuilding my collection.

I wish I had foresight to keep my Saturn collection from the 90s. It breaks my heart that I cant afford most of the games I want to own again... like Dragon Force! I wanted that game so bad in the 90s but I wasn't an RPG guy. But now I really want to give it a try... Retro Replay had a copy and I sat on it for so long I lost it! Gah!!

x-men cota was such a huge hit for the store i worked back then. when it dropped for the saturn import, we sold nearly every copy we could get our hands on plus a gameshark. we were all convinced it was a perfect port, especially after the ps1 port dropped and looked so dreadful.
