Vote for Ritual in the Webbys: vote.webbyawards.com/PublicVo...
Across cultures and throughout history, the ritual of the hunt has been the center of gravity for a community’s way of life, despite its decreasing relevance in western culture. We explore what goes into preparing for a hunt, what parts of this ritual are being lost to changing culture and climate change, and the spiritual nature of connecting with the land.
Tank will meet with Jonathan, founder of Black Duck Revival in Arkansas to discuss how people of color have always been deeply tied to the land, despite stereotypes that hunting is for predominantly white men, and Dale Bordelon, owner of Bayou Beast Duck Calls to see how he keeps old traditions alive.

In Ritual, Grammy-nominated musician Tank Ball journeys through the long-held rituals and traditions of the South. From the widely-shared to the deeply personal, rituals define a community's relationship between the past and present, and their resonance in the collective regional consciousness.

Amazing...I would love a nature series where Black naturalists of all kinds share their unique focus. Gardeners, farmers, animal husbandry, deer hunting, Then a series of the history of the talented tradesmen and women in carpentry, masonry, architecture from the beginning of the colonies till present.

First time I’ve watched anything that connects hunting to sacredness, though it’s a very natural connection to make. I’m actually roasting a duck this evening for dinner. I can’t believe -this- story has been released the very same evening duck is what I’m cooking. Another great show💯💯💯💯💯❤️! ✨✨✨✨✨✨

I really enjoyed this episode. For someone like me who has never been on a hunt, I am more eager now to go on one and experience this tradition!

Thank you for this representation of real life. Hunting, fishing and trapping gets someone closer to the raw world we take for granted!

Attempted to take the survey. I could not find PBS Voices on the list. Since that is the only one I view, I was eventually phased out of the question list. Too Bad because it is a very informative and entertaining series. The host Ms. Tarion does a wonderful job.

My family is so far removed from this. Ive been learning these skills and trying to integrate towards a life like this, albeit i likely wont hunt because i cant eat meat but i want to understand the skills and would love to learn from hunters as they are some of the most informed naturalists. while i am not familiar with the specifics of the skills my ancestors possessed, i learned my great great grandma who helped raise my grandmother and my great aunts and uncles, nanny, practiced herbalism. I started studying herbalism a few years ago and my connection to the land feels genuinely spiritual. I want to learn more about my ancestors and what they did cause i dont understand where this specifically draws from.

All the hunters I've known are respectful and thankful to the land and to the animals that they hunt. It's always been weird to me how many meat-eating non-hunters take issue with the notion of hunting, ignorant of the loving stewardship hunting tends to instill in most who participate.

The best part of hunting is if you care about saving animals, you can still participate. Lots of state governments have programs to eliminate invasive animal species, so by removing them you’re helping restore your local ecosystem and native species :)

Great documentary! But the subtitles need work. Using the wrong word, even if it sounds similar or means something similar shouldn’t be okey.

I feel like hunting for what you need is better than the over production killing our environment. Leaning on God for providing what you need makes you appreciate it more.
