Perfect timing. This question has been online for a while. Who'd you rather have beef with: angry Powerpuff Girls, a smiling Batman, or a silent Spider-Man?

The Powerful Puff girls would probably just pummel whoever pissed them off. Batman would not only be able to physically harm someone, but he has plenty of other resources he could use to ruin someone's life, from extortion to bankrupting people, so him suddenly smiling means there's no telling which he'll do. Pete also can easily physical harm someone, but if seriously pushed (especially if you harm his family), he's not above torturing them a little too before killing them. So you have a more outright threat, an unpredictable threat and a ruthless threat. It just depends on which a person finds scarier.

1:18, In their defense, in most action-related media where things we take for granted like physics and biological limitations are more of a suggestion than a rule (something especially true in cartoons and video games), you can actually see these "normal" people getting slammed into or with all sorts of objects, or just plain ragdolled (Insomniac's Spiderman and Arkham Batman come to mind, with just how many times you can just keep hitting people without even the slightest sign of actual damage), and they just get back up, 8:40, or just get shown writhing in pain, but otherwise fine. And if they do get injured, as long as it's not explicitly called life-threatening, they'll just recover and get right back to what they were doing, good or bad. Every now and again there are things that break this trend of filtering how consequential violence can be, like Andor's opening fight where he kills a guard with attacks that in other Star Wars media would have just knocked him out, but for the most part, most action-related media just ups the durability and endurance of regular people so they survive and recover from the action with little unwanted consequence, no permanent injuries, no disabilities to worry about. In the future, I do wish they make it more of a point to show how fragile people can be compared to these protagonists, who are often super-beings, to make it more of an added challenge to not accidentally or purposefully harm someone so they don't wind up crippled or killed. Invincible for instances sometimes does that, like Mark accidentally killing Angstrom Levi thinking he was more durable, but other times just let's Mark straight up punch people and launch them several yards without it harming them. Even Holland's Spiderman briefly made it a point for Peter to not be able punch regular people without possibly killing them, so he intentionally avoids doing so until this throw Doctor Octopus, a regular man with robot tentacles, at him and Peter does hit Octavius directly without it hurting hurting him.

Like...Larry Cullen outright told Peter "if you wanna be a hero, be strong enough to be gentle" but yes bayverse prime does be committing war crimes. I'm convinced fans that defend bayverse prime just want prime to be an anti hero with how often they praise him to be "realistic" when ironically enough, anti heroes are also praised for being realistic and are also more ruthless towards their enemies than regular heroes. Optimus in a regular basis is equivalent to captain America. Prime will take lives on the battlefield but ain't gonna commit war crimes. Meanwhile bayverse prime? Acts closer to red hood or punisher than anyone else and cares little about morals.

@@Kaiju-bm4ts My point is that unlike most superheroes like Spider-Man or Batman, Optimus is a war time commander, who regularly has to take lives in the course of his duties. So calling him a murderer by itself doesn’t really hold up the same way as it would if a superhero did the same thing. Even still, Bayverse was still an outlier since he was a borderline psychopath since he was resurrected in Revenge of the Fallen.

Yes in war you gotta take lives but some kills like killing enemies who aren't/can't fight back, whether they are surrendering or switching sides or offering a truce are still wrongful killings. Optimus period is someone who kills only when on a the battlefield. Bayverse prime, nemesis prime and shattered glass are the 3 exceptions

Imo people who say bay prime commits war crimes or is a psychopath, really is a bad take imo. Bay prime is very realistic take of Optimus, more dark and grim sure, but he's still Optimus and honestly, a leader who's gone through what he went through, his ruthlessness is completely valid. He's violent not bc he's psychotic, it's bc to be efficient. He tried speaking with words and diplomacy, and every time people he's trying to protect or close to him pay the price. He's learned that words can't solve everything...
