In this video I was using "Ande" 20lb mono. Now I use Seaworx 20lb mono it's a local company. But Ande will totally work.

OTB rods are no different than most other surf rods except they are over priced. I can cast just as far with my penn or offshore angler rods.

I too love my Penn rods. Have you cast one yet? They are a little lighter in the handle. The over the bar rods were so light and very well balanced. I really like them. I still love my Penn rods too. However, I'm really digging the cast I'm getting from these OTB ones. I'll give it a fair month of use and see if I miss using my Penns or not.

I can cast a mile with my Penn Rods too. They are just broom handles when it comes to Pompanos and Whiting. I have several Prevail I, Prevail III, Squadron III's even the 10's don't do well for bite detection of fish that small. I was looking at the Bullet and Surf 13 rods instead of the OTB rods they sell. Any opinions on them?

The guys at OTB rods just came out with a newer design that completely covered everything I could hope to see in a great pompano rod for my area. I love the new latest series. Each beach requires different tools for the job. OTB has my beaches (NEFL) totally covered for what I need. I’ve used them all over too. I love the feel of it -thin & sturdy, the distance I can cover , and the Fuji guides are top notch. The tips are sensitive enough to help me identify what kind of bites I’m getting whether it’s a whiting, pompano, or redfish some species are guesswork though. I have pulled in 5-6 ft bonnet and sharp nose sharks too. Most shops do a 30-40% mark up to cover their cost and to make a profit. Gear is gear…gotta get what makes you feel comfortable and CONFIDENT. For me, Over the bar makes me CONFIDENT I can get the job done with casting and bringing fish to the beach. I’m happy to put them up against any rods out there. I don’t leave home without my OTB if I’m beach fishing.

Yes, it is the same rod but its wraps and seats are better quality. Also the Fuji line guides are top notch h
