The part I think this mom is missing is along the lines of what I tell my children, “I love you too too much to send you out into your adult world without the skills you need.” Other people aren’t going to have endless understanding and patience for your children. You can teach them now or the world will teach them while they flounder as adults. It isn’t loving to not prepare them for their lives.
