I'm the same way as Dereck, just feeling invisible between all the drama and conflict because you don't scream and shout. it's very hurtful and I feel horrible for the guy
@Eventide2152 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm similar. My entire family, meaning extended as well, are extremely loud people. They *love* to yell and scream about everything. I don't like being loud though I can be if needed. So I end up always being the one people think is completely stable and uses me as an emotional outlet and rock. It's less that I'm "stable" and more I just don't outwardly show it as much as my family does. Though yes I am more stable than the rest of my family for sure.. Funny part too is most of the drama you watch unfold is so easy to solve.. but it's like nobody wants to solve it. So you just sit there silently and invisible.

This seems like 2 parents that didn't really bother to do anything slowly. Like they loved each other and so they just jumped into moving in together without asking the kids, introducing anyone, etc. So there was just tension and drama from the start. Then instead of being the mediators the parents just became even more childish and divided than the kids.

I really respect Jo and think she is wonderful most times, but I feel she is missing the mark this episode. She is expecting these teenagers to act with emotional maturity like it's just something kids learn as they age. If you have two parents who only know how to scream, yell, and blame each other when they feel upset, how are the children supposed to know how to do anything different? I really hope more people in the future learn that they need to know how to regulate their own emotions without the help of anyone else if they have any chance of having children who are well regulated.
