I'm not sure Phantom Liberty could have been nominated even if it was considered. Sure it was good, but it didn't have as much pull as the nominees had. And as for DLCs being included I am thinking of it as this way: even if they decided to add DLC's to GOTY later rather than this year, people would still complain"if DLCs are included now, SOTE could have been nominated!!" There's no winning for them. Personally, I think it's good that they're now considering DLCs as games since in the future DLCs will be considered as well.

Vampire survivors has legitimately become a top 10 favorite game of all time for me the game is a perfect example of “don’t judge a book by its cover” its a fucking content INFESTATION and they just keep adding more and more with each new DLC Ode to castlevania being the biggest DLC they’ve ever done which makes a lot off sense since it was inspired by castlevania, and even as someone who has never played castlevania you can easily tell how much they love the series with all the crazy shit they put in there absolute PEAK GAMING!

There are already multiple DLCs from the past that are essentially second games like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, both of which were absolutely fantastic. All this to say Elden Ring is not special for creating what it did with uts DLC, despite it being very good. The controversy surrounding this is just another case of souls fans (including Jeoff) displaying why its full of some of the most annoying gamers on the internet.

The thing is with the adpocolypse is, well, honestly, Asmongold is kind of right the way he put it. It is partially his fault, but it's moreso that he was the catalyst because people have been so upset with Hasan and his antics on the platform for years, and then Asmon got banned while saying the same types of things Hasan says on a daily basis. So, people got pissed at Twitch, and have been contacting Advertisers on Twitch and basically showing them the stuff that Hasan has been saying, and trying to force Twitch to do something in regards to him. So, at the end of the day, it's both their faults. Asmon was the catalyst, but Hasan has been an issues for years and when Asmon was banned, that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I think GOTY is gonna be between FF7 Rebirth, Astro Bot and Black Myth - Metaphor is still relatively new and I don't think enough people will sink into it before the awards. The most complaint I've seen is actually Balatro because it's "just a card game" and Elden Ring for the reasons you already mentioned. Rebirth has been getting a pretty consistent hype throughout the year despite being released so early in the year, Astro Bot I think is the sleeper between those 3 and Black Myth, while being considered really good, got much less sales in the US by comparison (which is where most of the votes will come from). Most of Black Myth's sales were in China, and so I can see the sway here either in whether the Chinese demographic will try to vote; either it'll be a small spike of voters from China (with little impact) OR the netizens may want a Chinese-made game to break through GOTY Awards for more attention to and focus on Chinese-developed games and may rally their community to vote - the goal would be to have more influence on more Chinese-developed games breaking into the International market. Just to clarify, I'm not saying myself that any of these games don't deserve GOTY - just my speculation on reasons why people may vote on one over another. Personally, I don't mind Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree making it to GOTY and ultimately I don't think it'll win anyways

Asmongold has stated in his videos that he admits "lighting the fuse" but he "didn't build the bomb".
