I'am so surprised that you called yourself a slob. In private I also call myself that, but I am trying to do better..My father was also a slob, but not to slander him, he was a wonderful business man, husband and father. But, he was indeed a slob, and that is not calling anybody a putdown name, just means you are messy in general. I love your youtubes.

It seems like this system makes housework feel more like an achievement than a chore, and maybe that feeling comes across to your kids: that helping isn't just drudgery but caring for your own living space. (I hope that makes sense.) It was a stroke of genius when the FlyLady invented the name "Weekly Home Blessing" for these tasks - it sets a positive tone. Thanks as always Steph!

This was great to watch and listen to what you are doing, the weekly home blessing always got me stumped and seeing that it's not trying to do a full house deep clean in one hour helps so much! I've been following you over a year (and Diane in Denmark) and been minimising with The Mininal Mom, and my house has never looked so good; my Mum has only been here twice in 2 years and yesterday she called to day she was on her way 😳 but I only need to do a quick 5 min pick up 😊 Oh yes, and that worrying about what your mum will say never ends - I'm 54 and my Mum's 76! 😆

Very motivating to see you getting all that done with 3 little ones! Enjoy this time in your life when they are little. My children's great grandmother told me that when my 4 were small. She said it is the best time of your life, and I took it to heart. They are all grown now - ages 28 - 42, and although this time is wonderful too, she was absolutely right! Good for you to be teaching them good habits!

Steph, I'm 76 and on my second swing with the flylady system. You got me onto Diane, too. The best thing about both of you is that you're fun to watch, have engaging personalities, and you don't have the grim attitude of the teachers and authors back when I was first learning. Started having a better attitude the SHE (Sidetracked Home Executives), who inspired Flylady, and now you two keep me going. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. BTW, "Grim" attitude doesn't go away. I wrote down my three May goals, and coming back to them, discovered they were ALL tasks I've been working on for years. No Joy there... quickly rewrote them!

Love love love. One suggestion I will make. As for the beds. We used to have 15-18 sheet sets for 3 beds. What I ended up doing was pairing it down to 2 sheet sets per bed. That way I could change the sheets and get the bedding on immediately. Then wash the dirty. Because I had a pee pee kid who was having accidents we did 3 sets for him with 3 plastic backed pads that went over the waterproof mattress covers. So in the middle of the night, if he wet the bed, we would just strip the bed put on the clean and run the pee pee in the wash. And more than one night we had 2 accidents hence the 3 sets. Sometimes the struggle is real with potty training. Also we’ve had the occasional puke in the middle of the night. That way we can easily switch out to clean sheets and bedding. Also very bed we own from the minute I bought it has a waterproof cover on it. It has saved us dozens and dozens of times!!! And not one mattress has one single stain!!

I am loving seeing how you cluster tasks together while you are in a given area! It gets done that way before you know it ! I was also inspired on another of your videos showing your vacuuming, immediately followed by the mopping ! I like both the Flylady routines and those of Clean Mama , where the Weekly Home Blessing gets split up over the days of the week , but if I can get tasks done sooner and more efficiently , so much the better ! I am 77, so some days my energy is low and I need to split up the tasks over the week . But it all gets done eventually!

Don't know if this might help but I split up my weekly blessing and do a ten minute chore every day. Monday dusting. Tuesday glass and mirrors, Weds sweeping, Thursday mopping, Friday change the sheets. I do a fifteen minute zone clean every day. So in all I clean for 25 min a day. I'm finding it doable and much better than the marathon clean I used to do on the weekend.

We’ve got the laundry room to do this week in the zone, so I have one last bit to finish home blessing and zone cleaning. Mopping, which really tears up my lower back when you combine with vacuuming. This week I did li’l roomba in one room and moved the bath mopping since that’s the zone, just have the laundry room floor and usual routines and much less of a backache. Next week I’ll likely have to stretch out the mopping and vacuuming over a few days or really follow my timer. Getting efficient is important if you use the 15 minute rule, I think that’s part of the plan with the system, not getting sidetracked. Love the handy printable stuff!

I love how you keep your ged simple! I don't like a lot of extras on my bed either that I will have to constantly keep throwing off so I can sleep and then pick up off the floor again in the morning

quick question (+ sorry if you answer it somewhere else :P ): Have you ever felt like the water + soap mixture makes the surfaces slightly tacky/sticky + therefore that *more* dust adheres there? (I'm speaking from a place of almost never *ever* dusting...so really just my inexperience + curiosity talking!) Thanks! I'm really enjoying your channel!

I like how you combine Wk HB with morning routine. Nice idea. Have gotten disorganized as I bring toys gome from work to do TeleHeath so I super appreciate this vid. I have to go turn compost after breakfast but I will review when I do this week HB. Thanx Steph. You look marvelous.

I’m following fly lady app and doors are on there also...I just wiped down all my doors and it took 30 min. Half way through I realized she might just mean exterior doors and not interior 😐 🤦🏻‍♀️ that right??

When fly lady has dust and vacuum, we have a two-story house with six bedrooms. How do I dust everything? I know what to do. Just doing the weekly home lesson I feel like downstairs gets done upstairs never

You choose weekly your bedclothes? Why? Every two weeks, I heard, is much. Once a month is the rule I learned. I never had so much clothes or the time and place for washing and drying.

I can't see how all that takes only one hour. I have a small(ish) apartment and it would take me longer than that to do the whole home blessing. 2 - 3 hours at least.

MIT educational research says it is important for children to see themselves in mirrors in the bathroom and bedroom to build up a healthy self-image and self-confidence. Also, if they can see themselves playing in a group or sitting with the family as a group, it is very good for them to develop their sense of themselves as part of a loving, happy family. When I learned this, I put up Walmart full length mirrors in my classroom and my own house! It did seem to be good for my students. I noticed a change in their critical opinions of each other and found they became more realistic and friendly toward each other, seeing themselves as a team, rather than as competition.

We have three (now grown) sons. When they were little, I discovered that squirting a little Rain X in their bathroom sinks made toothpaste slide right down the drain. It was nice not having to chisel toothpaste from the sink!!

I think if I had a house with space like you I could keep it alot cleaner. We are 4 people in a small apartment and when there is stuff up against everything and not very much floor room it's so hard to keep everything clean and organized.

I totally get using extra disinfecting products during this time. But for the most part I have still been able to avoid the harsher products. I too use vinegar and baking soda in a lot of my cleaning solutions but I also utilize essential oil infused products from the same company as my actual essential oils. I swear by them even in a scary time like now.

I got a great tip from “how Jen does it” I run my dishwasher right after dinner and empty it. It works out so well because the dishwasher is always empty so my family fills it all night and day and that way I don’t have dishes in my sink ever.

The Secret Slob Yes you’ll see when you have teenagers they eat all hours of the night so it’s good to have an empty dishwasher to put those dishes in so you don’t have to wake up to them.

Children don't have to play all over the house. If they are only allowed to play in one area, you do not have to clean up the entire house. Children like to take over the whole house. But they are able to follow this little rule. Explain them the new rule and then... You just have to be consistent for a few weeks with this. If they do not follow, you call them and they have to pick up the toy and bring it back into their allowed space. If they do not want to, you take the toy away for a certain time. Or take their hand and pick up the toy together with them. Say thank you and rush away. These will save your life.

Great video! I've been binge watching while doing cleaning to motivate myself. One thing... Is that a Norwex mop? It has a swivel head so you don't need to do the push back and forth motion (which puts pressure on your back). Also you can do it towards yourself so you're not walking all over your clean floors. Sorry not being judgey, I'm a Norwex consultant and know that sometimes people don't quite get how to use it. Also you don't need to use soap with it, just water will do a great job.

Do you wipe down in an S pattern? Going in circles just spreads the dirt and germs back onto what you just cleaned

Also vinegar should not be used on natural stone. Not sure if you have any of that but I learned that and I have granite and marble so I have to use a different cleaner for those. Don't want to damage the expensive counters.
