After TATM and before TNOTD, the doctor and river spend a lot of off screen time together, I would love to see that off screen time....... Well......the bits that are appropriate to see!!! For example, that mini-sode, the rain gods, that's after Rory and Amy die, so that means that Clara was asleep of something and they went on a nightly outing, like during First Night and Last Night....overall I think River's coming back, whether she is dead or alive, or if it is past, present or future, or even if it is just the doctor thinking about her!
