@TheSewingChannel you might want to know that Dr Helen is a Doctor ofTheology (ThD) and a naturopathy doctor who got her credentials from the Seventh Day Adventist church university at Loma Linda. Her paper was not published in a medical journal, nor was it peer reviewed. It was published in a quarterly edition of Hebrews Today that supports strict adherence to the laws of the Torah. Since the initial paper, there has been no follow-up to test the theory, nor a long-term study to quantify the actual effects on living subjects. Sorry, but I would say that her research had an agenda to support her beliefs, and while I won't say it's quackery, it does hedge towards bogus research with a definite bias that makes the entirety suspect.

Wow! When you talked about linen and wool cancelling each other out, I was amazed because in the Old Testament in the Bible the Israelites were instructed to NOT wear blended fabric. I always wondered why. Now, it makes sense. God was instructing them on things that were best for their health.

@talllala8 күн бұрын
They couldn't wear blended linen and wool together, but there was nothing against wearing a full linen undergarment with a woolen tunic on top etc. The prohibition was ceremonial. Logically everything we're exposed to must give off frequencies, even things we sit on or sleep on - mattresses etc. Interesting though!
@grandmajane25934 күн бұрын
The sentence about linen and wool canceling each other doesn't make any sense to me at all. But when I read commenters statements about bibical reference I sort of understand where it comes from. But it doesn't make sense in our time period. If I had a linen shirt snd a wool skirt I wouldn't hesitate to wear them together if I felt like it.

So xrays are higher frequency than radio waves. Would you rather sit all day next to a radio or a running xray machine? I agree that synthetic materials have been linked to health concerns, but usually this is related more to the chemicals that they leach off and interact with hormones in the body. Also, natural things can be deadly and toxic, too. Most affordable cotton fabrics go through quite a health and environmentally compromising process to arrive as a finished quilting cotton, which is why in large part that step of manufacturing is shoved off on poorer countries with lax-er regulations. No judgment to anyone who wants to exclusively use cotton/natural fibers or loves a minky backing. But the textile industry is a challenging industry all around as far as human health and ecology go.

The fabric is nearly indestructible and in our hot humid climate I only wear linen and cotton so I was pleased to hear their qualities. There was probably no study done on a healer that makes quilts and in the process of making them raises the vibrational level of the quilt. Also, when the quilt is done and I say my healing prayers and meditations over the quilt, the vibrational level is higher. Just because something starts out at a lower vibration does not mean that it can not be raised. I challenge that doctor over this. My quilts go out to all sorts of people in physical pain, emotional pain and addictive pain. They are made with love, the intent from the beginning is to give comfort and security and healing if accepted.

Thank you for this amazing video. I've known about how frequencies affect the body for a little while now. I also knew about God's command not to mix linen and wool but didn't know why. Now I want to make a linen quilt for my own bed. And perhaps buy some linen sheets, too. Interesting about how years ago hospitals wrapping patients in linen sheets to speed healing. Linen is so wonderful. I have a an off-white linen skirt that I bought many ages ago and it still looks great; I also have a linen blouse that won't quit either. Linen wears very well and will often outlast cotton in household goods or clothing. Yes, it wrinkles easily but most wrinkles can be avoided by pulling it out of the dryer quickly same as cotton. Yes, it wrinkles some in the wearing but the wrinkles fall out much faster when the item is hung up properly. I'm also a cross stitcher and enjoy learning about the historical aspect. Many samplers were stitched on linen and even some as old as 200 years back survived time. The threads used in the design may or may not have survived well depending upon how it was stored or displayed. I've been a great fan of natural fabrics for many years and haven't regretted it one bit. Natural fabrics do take a bit of care though not much and they are worth the effort. Simple things like making sure clothing is hung up and aired out before replacing in the closet make a big difference. Or letting the sheets air out a little before making up the bed. Natural fiber fabrics are also great to wear. They are definitely cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

God has been telling me to do that, but I wasn’t listening. I am not going to care what it looks like, I can always make it into something pretty. I have always loved natural fibers. Slowly, I have been influencing my friends to move away from synthetics. I did read about this study years ago, so it did help my crusade. This is one of the reasons I do not like superwash yarn for knitting, especially socks. Awful stuff! The natural fulling of 100% wool/alpaca with a touch of kid mohair makes for wonderful socks. Thank you for airing this very important information, if only to make better compost. Worms have a tough time eating synthetics, so fast fashion ends up clogging the waterways and transfer stations. It is time to recycle synthetic clothing somehow instead of causing fires wherever those thrown away clothes are dumped by the container amounts. All the best for everyone's better health!

....... QUESTION.......Hi Tracy, I need guidance to start my first scrappy quilt. Never done a log cabin square. Nervous about the size of the pieces. Don't want to end up with pieces too small or too large. What would be a nice rectangle size to start? I would like to include some 9 inch square. Would that be too big? Any suggestions? Wish you would have filmed the piecing part.

Oh my word....I have no clue. I just start sewing 2 pieces together then cut excess off to square it up and then add another one and do the same. Here's a video to help you kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2fHdHd9gpiLfpY

Tracy, I have researched natural healing due to my bad luck with doctors and the fact that I have EDS. This has absolutely fascinated me as I also have been making quilts since I was in my 20's. I went to Goodwill this weekend and unfortunately I was only able to find four items that was 100% Linen. So I am on a quest now! I have probably watched this video four times in 2 weeks! Thank you for adding to my healing journey. 😊

Before you started, I already knew: Natural fabrics GOOD. Synthetic fabrics Bad. That’s just be skin feel. However, bad natural fabric combinations was very interesting! Thanks!

Pretty fascinating. I look forward to looking at Dr. Heidi's work, as I am interested in the properties of silk as well. For healing purposes, I will pass on the spray starch and adhesive, as they both contain petroleum byproducts.

I learned this from my grandmother a little over 50 years ago. She told me it’s in the Torah (she was raised near a Jewish community) and Bible to not mix fabrics and to only use fabric from plants and animals. She made all of the clothes for her children and never used what she called fake fabric (synthetic) she was also known for her quilts and was offered fabric from a fabric company but she refused because it was not 100% cotton. To this day my clothes are true (plant or animal) clothes. Do you know how hard it is to find jeans that are 100% cotton?! I make much of my wardrobe unless I can find true safe 100% cotton or linen. I’m allergic to wool but not alpaca but alpaca is really expensive. Luckily I learned to sew when I was 7 so for much of my life I’ve made a majority of my clothes and all of our quilts. P.S. please check your adhesive spray. I can guarantee it has toxic chemicals in it. Honestly it can take up to 11 washings for the adhesive to “wash out” of the quilt.

I've thought about this quite a bit. I appreciate your research and your willingness to share it. When we understand what synthetic fabric is made of, it makes accepting this much easier. It's like eating margarine instead of butter!

Wow! definitely food for thought. I remember seeing those texts. One text said not to mix fibers. So you got me started researching. . . I found linen thread that is useable in a sewing machine. I found heavier weight linen by the yard for a bit over $20 per yard. Currently looking for linen batting type stuff. There is something but its different, I may have to order it and see if it would work. Will look at the thrift store to see what I can find I figure I could work towards at least getting sheets, quilt and nightgown; that would let a body be nurtured at night at least Thanks for your info!
