I love figgy pudding esp with rum sauce (or hard sauce). It's a cake that is steamed right before it is served. It tastes a lot like mince pie, but more carrot cake- like texture. Your fabric is beautiful. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Your videos give so much joy throughout the year.

I really enjoyed your video. Great block. Could be done in so many different seasons. I like your start to finish and even reinforcing the pressing at each step and squaring up. I think it never hurts to get those reminders. Even pinning and slowing down our speed when putting our blocks together. I like using my painters tape or my magnet. I find my seams are much straighter. That last second of stitching I was sliding off wrong direction. It is amazing the difference just looking away for a second makes. I enjoyed how you “fixed” your stripe. I find myself not using stripes because a lot of time the print is actually off. Merry Christmas and thanks for a great video

“Figgy” in this context means with raisins. If you put your masking tape on the underside of your ruler it forms a “ledge” to butt up against the block fold and helps you be super accurate.

Sleigh Ride is my favorite, we played it every year for the Christmas concert in high school. Isn’t it so much fun to watch your package go through the ridiculous route to eventually get to you. I decided one package was going to go through every major city in Texas before it arrived in rural south plains.

Figgy pudding, no, but plum pudding , YES! My momma was British, and a few times while I was growing up, she made Plum Pudding. I have her recipe, and I have given it a go a few times. Basically it's a cake with lots of fruit and nuts, it uses suet rather than shortening, and it is steamed instead of baked. It is sooooo good. Now I'm hungry. 😂

Turned out beautiful. But have you seen the no cutting version of that block? I don't know how to link it but it's from the Sew Charming Quilt Shop and it's called The quickest and easiest quilt block you will ever make. You lay the 5 in square on the 10 in square and fold over two sides and do a 1/4 in seam then open and press then fold the other two sides in and repeat. I did it in a Christmas fabric also. But I cut each square diagonally in half and mixed them up and sewed them back together again. Made it look like picture frames. Just too many ideas out there! Oh, I love the way you folded the blocks in half to square them up. Great technique if you don't have the perfect size square ruler. Will be using that!

You're right, thata layer cake is beautiful, love it. I've eaten steamed carrot pudding & used to make it, does that count for figgy pudding? You're a brave quilter for squaring up those blocks folded, and it works out for you, amazing! Not sure I'd be that lucky. The finished quilt is lovley and that border really adds a lot. Merry Christmas!!!
