I’m making a Santa panel following your directions basically.,…just wondered what color thread you used for quilting? I have a lot of red and white for Santa’s beard, etc. so confused on what color to use…thank you…love your videos ❤
@TheSewingRoomChannel2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan 4. You can use any color you choose. I usually use the same color throughout the quilt. Sometimes I will use a very bright color when I want the stitch pattern to show up a lot. Other times I will use a very neutral color. If you don't want you stitch pattern to show, then select a very neutral/light color. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

Am I correct that 1/4 yard of binding fabric is not enough if you are adding a 2" border to the fabric panel? Fabric panel is 44" before border. Binding fabric is also 44" from salvage to salvage.

My question is going to tell you just how much I don't know about sewing. You say to cut the strips at 2 1/2" wide but how long are they supposed to be....is the required 1/3 fabric as long as the panel? Thank you.
@TheSewingRoomChannel5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy. Good question. I should have explained it better. Most quilt fabric is 42" to 44" wide from selvage edge to selvage edge. When you purchase quilt fabric it is folded in half with the selvage edges together. You leave it folded and cut from the fold line out to the selvage edges. Here is a link to a video that demonstrates how to cut strips. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJu8cn-Debemp6c In this video the strips are being cut 3 1/2" wide. But you will cut yours 2 1/2" wide. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

What size is the ruler you use, it's so big, plus where did you get it?? Thank you for any information!
@TheSewingRoomChannel5 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa. It is made by Omnigrid. Size is 8 1/2" x 24". You can buy it from Joann Fabrics and Crafts (use a coupon), Walmart (they carry a different brand and it is half the cost), amazon. com, and many other websites. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
