Hi. I love your videos. Very new to the sewing machine. I noticed you left pins along the top of the placemat while explaining the steps. Do you leave them in as you sew? I’ve tried placemats before and struggle with the raw edges shifting once I remove the pins. Or could be the foot? I’m using the basic foot currently. Thanks in advance. 😊
@TheSewingRoomChannelАй бұрын
Hi Lady Dub. Yes I use pins. When stitching I remove one pin at a time. Try not to stitch over the pins because you might bread a needle. If you are using cotton batting in your placemats, you need to use a "walking" presser foot. It feeds the fabric layers under the presser foot evenly. If you use a standard presser foot, the fabric will stretch and can also cause pin tucks in the fabric. You can purchase the foot from a sewing machine dealer store or order one from sewingpartsonline. com. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍

Love your videos! Instead of using pins, the Frixion pens could be used. Mark a dot with the pins and when done iron the dots away! I use them all the time to mark fabrics as the heat of the iron removes the pen marks. Keep your videos coming!!

Why does my fabric move as I am sewing? Do I need to put more pins in? Or change the foot? I just bought a Janome for beginners and I’ve used the Foot that comes with it. As I’m sewing I’m getting little tiny plates, here and there. Help.
@TheSewingRoomChannel7 ай бұрын
Hi Sara. You need to use a "walking presser foot". You can order one from sewingpartsonline.com. Then enter "walking presser foot". There will be a list of sewing machines with model numbers off to the side. Here is a link to my tutorial on how to use the foot and how to do quilting stitches: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHbYp6CLiJJjbZo Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍

Ok so I got 2 :D fat quarters (because I didn't know how much to ask for & thought these were small enough to handle) I watched vids for cutting...sizing up, making even & then measured old school with little tick marks but ended up somehow losing a 1/2" on the 19" side & hade to do a lot of trimming. It will have to do as it's all the fabric I have...for now. And I seem to have gotten a rotary with a dull blade...sigh. Anyway I'm going to see if my machine works...or rather can I sew a straight line? haha Can you tell I know NOTHING?? LOL. I am determined to learn this pattern if I have to try 100 times +!! :D

How many yards of fabric are needed to make a set of six placemats?
@TheSewingRoomChannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Grandmom. If you want the same fabric on top and bottom, you will need about 6 yards. If you want different fabric on top and the bottom, you will need 3 yards of each. Hope this helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIOoYZdjmNKtetk
