Tim, I know you said you would only do a small doorway between the two buildings, but seeing that large wall section that used to be open I can't stop thinking how epic it would look to have that section removed and open up the two sides. I'm sure a solution can be had to drive between them too. You could drive inside the two garages to service, wash, and stage all your cars without even having to go outside with them! Epic!!
@lukas48662 жыл бұрын

I would suggest hanging banners and flags from the ceiling first off. It sets the mood for what you are trying to accomplish. Secondly, i would have projection systems installed with your adventures of specific cars, and or race footage of the manufacturers. The international flags should have been featured because of your travels as well.
@ShiftingSplits2 жыл бұрын
I knew this was coming.. When you first moved in, I was thinking "thats not big enough for what Shmee wants to do".. You should use both spaces under the upper area for parking spaces and put all the storage in the second more industrial area.. Or use that area under for the "secret car" projects you mentioned.. Personally I think the mezzanine should have been where the tents are behind the main cars..
@rohan69832 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure they didn't put the mezzanine where the tents are cause the roof is too low for a second level Its not obvious at first glance but it is lower then the other side due to the slope of the roof
@TheShmuseum2 жыл бұрын
This is correct, the upper level couldn't fit down that side, it would have to be at one end and we rocked back and forth at the early days where to put it and concluded it would be best away from the 'noise' that might be on the workshop side.

Love seeing the E500, I drive a mid noughties german V8 long wheel base barge as a daily, simply because anonymously driving a car which cost north of £100k new with more kit and luxuries than most modern cars is very appealing. Plus it blends in much more than its twin, the flying spur.

Main Area - the Shmuseum with its Memorabilia Second area - storage, workshop and 'everyday' vehicles - the cars you don't want on 'Display'. That second area could be perfect for Kitchenette, Toilets, Garage/Workshop inc storage for Tools, tyres, wheels, and any parts, main working 'office' for keeping all paperwork and for all the running of the Shmuseum and channel to keep the Main area for purely the museum cars, memorabilia and leisure. Keep the Main area for 'leisure' and 'pleasure' and the back area as the 'working' and storage area for the running of the Shmuseum and channel, maintenance and working/everyday vehicles... I know all your cars are used regularly but there are 'special' cars that you want to show off in the Shmuseum and others you have are 'daily' drivers, working vehicles (for towing or support vehicles) etc that take up space in the Shmuseum. That old Clio for example is taking a space that could be used to display a 'special' car. That would be better 'stored' in the working section. Every 'Museum' has an employee only area where any maintenance and/or items not for display are kept, where they actually 'run' the Museum and you have the perfect opportunity to have a 'work only' area behind the 'display'' area...

Loved the reveal, did not see it coming, but I do highly recommend that cars should be able go get from one side to the other without going outside, and to follow, you could have an indoor wash bay in the other barn for those cold winter days. And you'll finally be able to get your own trailer, maybe even get one with transparent sides so others can see what's in the trailer, it would look really awesome, maybe even with The Shmuseum and Shmee150 logo on. :) Again, loved the video and keep them coming :)

@John Russell in the workshop side, you could have a ramp half cut into the concrete floor and half into the museum side and it wouldn’t take up as much space in each side

Would make sense to keep your parts storage in the back out of public eye and closer to the mechanics build area. But if the UK is like the US (and two countries learn from the other's idiocratic excesses), you're probably need fifty permits to change oil, transmission fluids, etc. and submit yearly environmental impact studies that you are not polluting. In some US states if you sell more than 3 cars a year, you have to be registered as used car dealer of all stupid things even they are "private sales".

As you mentioned, driving directly between the 2 spaces is impractical as you pointed out they are at 2 different heights but having a view between the 2 spaces would be quite nice. I would suggest a large window but that would be fairly expensive but if you opened up the central section then have a railing with a big sliding shutter door would be a cool option if you wanted to have the option to separate the spaces and would also be a nice nod to the shmuseums previous life as a barn
