In the last two drafts the Habs have picked 2 very large players. Management wants large players, no ifs no buts .... IMO here are their top 4 prospects for 5th pick. Lindstrom 6-4 / 216 ....... Silayev 6-7/ 210 ....... Dickenson 6-3 / 194 ......Yakemchuck 6-3 / 194

With 5: Pick the best skilled athlete whatever the position. What almost everybody forgets in the draft is the question of depth. It's a long season. Eyes dazzled by some 'hotdog' to save the franchise lacks a mature vision into the future.

Late to the dance,here. The Habs will do both. They will draft a top forward as well as make a trade for a regular playing young,former 1st round pick that can fit in right now. They can load up.

I've watched the English Premier league all my life and trust me the NHL doesn't have the most inconsistent league for calls. Since I've become a NHL fan I've been really happy with the state of the officiating compared to watching football. I would give my left testicle to have embellishment in the premier league. Every single day in English media we have these VAR debates. The NHL is far far better.

EXACTLY !!! They wouldn’t have used their 7th pick to move to 5th. It would’ve been : Gauthier for the 5th pick of MTL. And then they would’ve had the 5th AND 7th picks overall. So they would’ve picked Reinbacher AND Michkov

The top 4 are: Celebrini, then (Levshunov or Demidov or inverted) then Lindstrom (depending on medical opinions) Anaheim has said RD or RW. CBJ has all kinds of D (they need to be watched) but they need a C. All the above makes too much sense, So ... Parekh & Yakemchuk are like Karlsson. Team absolutely needs a LD fit (Methot) and whole team needs to be built around them. Our LD are 'good enough. So Levshunov or? Iginla, Senneke or Caton Catton is same size&style as Point (& Kutcherov) Look it up. So unless any above say something about preferred location (a la Michkov) .. We bear down into those 3 and hope CBJ remains as dysfunctional as ever.

Here is a crazy thought but why not try Wifi at forward on bottom 6 a la Dustin Byfuglien / he could dress as forward / 7th Defenceman His size on the forecheck would be welcomed, as would at net front, board play, forecheck, decent shot… If a D gets hurt he could step right in at D… Just a thought

They traded Kovalchuk for a 3rd. Which they then traded for Jake Allen. So they got jake Allen for free. And just got another 3rd, maybe 2nd, for signing Kovalchuk. Still has value today.

Trade Matheson and pick #24 for pick 2, 3, or 4 for Catton Lindstrom, Mitchcov, or Iginla. Matheson is the prime candidate. That means a balanced lineup of Suzuki, Cole, Lindstrom, Dach, Slav, and Maser, Newhook, Roy, Catton or Iginla, 4th line of Beck, Evans, and Armia. A strong D with our #5 pick will make our future a strong contender for the playoffs!
