That is a huge pain in the ass for what should be a simple task. Shame on Kawasaki for making it harder than it needs to be.

Cool tutorial Bro. I had to do coolant change for my z8. Just got hit by a car on December 21. Luckily have slider & engine guard. I notice my coolant are really on low level as more than 3 years didn’t change it. 🇲🇾👍

There are two screw for us to blow the coolent. Bottom near the gear paddle and a screw on block (somewhere near header)

I only know of the one near the shifter which we open to let the coolant out.

nice one!!! followed your channel for quite some time. interested with the z800. however i heard that there's some issue with the valve. is it true there's issue with the quality or its jz the style of riding?
@thesighbored8 жыл бұрын
There are some cases, but it's not some frequently happening to the majority of the owners. Z800 is probably one of the most common bikes on the roads now, maybe even surpassing the ER6 model. I have quite a few friends that have been riding their Z800 for quite some time now, not hearing any troubles from them. Thanks for viewing!

Hi, great content ! What’s the normal temperature range of the bike ? Ive seen it went above 103 deg celsius but im unsure if that seemed normal. Got the coolant replaced about 3 months ago ! Thanks !
@thesighbored4 жыл бұрын
This bike runs a bit hotter than others, normal running on other bikes usually 89-90c but this one was 98c I think.. Not sure why.. Thanks for viewing!
@thekidless76822 жыл бұрын
Hi,love your content! Not many around with our local Malaysian accents,haha.. I think it has to do with the radiator fluid-to-water ratio. I monitor my car's ratio as well with a special ratio-meter whereby it tells you how much a certain fluid mix has deteriorated over time. Quite a cheap and ingenius little tool. Typical life span of fluid these days are 3-5 years. There are long life varieties as well and usually dictates the selling price. Just make sure it's the right type for the Z. It's a simple apparatus actually, where you just need to suck out a sample of fluid from your radiator and the float in the apparatus simply just points to 1 of 4 markers telling you if the radiator needs topping up of radiator(pure or 50/50) fluid in order to maintain the level and ratio of cooling and rustproof efficiency. Too high a ratio of water to fluid will cause a higher temperature reading. Hence it is important to keep a 50/50 ratio for optimum cooling and rust protection. Too low a ratio over time would effect the corrosion protection level the fluid is supposed to provide over time and it would cause the radiator channels to rust. You will know this once you've purged the old radiator fluid out of the bike. So,i always keep a 50/50 mix of fluid around for topping up the radiator's expansion tank. Never just add water as it will dilute the ratio over time and render your coolant pretty much useless. It happens to the best of us. And by the way, always use distilled water as pipe water will cause heavy pitting in the radiator channels over time as it contains minerals and rust particals. You can simply get distilled water from the 7-Eleven to mix if you are using the pure type. I do it by mixing 1:1 in a measuring jug.Hope that helps..😊
@thesighbored2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! If not mistaken most of the coolants now come premixed, I rarely add water to radiator anymore.. I'll usually just top-up with the same brand coolant if needed..

I got a 2013 z800. And just checked my water coolant was on L mark. But nothing wrong with the radiator and it’s doesn’t get that hot which let u think something wrong with engine. Everything totally normal even in summer. Do u think I have to change my water coolant or just fill up till F mark?
@thesighbored5 жыл бұрын
It's better to have the coolant reservoir at F level since it's designed to hold that much coolant even if just as standby/extra.

Is the bike heavy Bro? A local dealer recommended this bike and been contemplating between MT 09. Your opinions appreciated.
@thesighbored7 жыл бұрын
Yes it's heavy for it's category, you should wait for the 2017 MT-09 and check that one out.
@zergothikaify7 жыл бұрын
Yepx, it's out where I'm at. Was interested in the Z800 before mt 09 2017 was out. Thus, wanna check how's the long term review.
@thesighbored7 жыл бұрын
Z800 is a good motorcycle, I have many friends using it, the only concern is the weight but once you get familiar with it and handling the bike, you won't even notice the weight. But of course the MT-09 has more lower end torque plus it's lighter so much more nimble, hopefully they fixed the soft front fork issue, the previous one was way too soft.

good video man it seems so complicated procedur to do such a simple task wanna ask you what it the normal temp when you start the Z800 ?
@thesighbored Жыл бұрын
It's complicated due to the position of the radiator cap.. Normal operating temp is roughly 89 to 90 more or less a bit, if not mistaken.
@Murphy_x Жыл бұрын
@@thesighbored thanks for quick reply, i have z800 when i start it the temp is 40 and start increasing quickly even i dont ride it, is this normal or not ?
@thesighbored Жыл бұрын
@@Murphy_x Yes, that's cold start, the temp will go up to the normal operating temp like I mention, and will even get hot where the fan will kick in to cool down.. That's normal..

Wow that is rocket since just to get a bit of water lol I don't know I'm upbtibthe task. Main is getting hot around 95 degrees in winter outside is like degrees I think in sammer will be very hot is that normal

The cooling system should keep the engine from passing the overheating mark, if it's not then there should be something wrong.

Is the water pump working properly? Does the coolant look like milk tea/muddy instead of it's normal color? Is the radiator stuck? Have you replaced the radiator cap before/check the cap pressure valve/spring is OK? There's a lot of possibilities you need to check one by one or have a mechanic diagnose the issue..

Is that before remove the tank tube must clear all the fuel from petrol tank? Sry if I'm asking stupid question🙏🏻😊 i don't know what for is the tubes actually
@thesighbored5 жыл бұрын
What tube are you referring to? You can have fuel in the tank but try to not have so much fuel then it wil be heavy when you remove the tank, and the fuel won't spill if you disconnect the fuel line there's a valve to stop the fuel so it doesn't flow when you remove the tank.
@filaz3 жыл бұрын
I think he means the 2 black tube connected side of tank. Bro that is drainage tube for over flow fuel and drain the water (from rain or wash) in case there have water trapped inside between fuel cap. Sorry if i mistaken.
@thesighbored3 жыл бұрын
The black over flow tubes? Yeah those tiny ones are the over flow tubes also rain water draining if park under the rain and water manages to get past the fuel cap.

Wont the engine get damaged by running it without coolant? I saw that the radiator was smoking when you were pouring water to flush the cooling system. Won't the water pump wear off due to running dry?
@thesighbored4 жыл бұрын
For just a short moment it's OK, plus the engine wasn't running at high temperature, the reason for letting it run was to flush out any remaining coolant still the system.
@teddybeer17574 жыл бұрын
@@thesighbored Alright, but why was the radiator overflowing, when you were filling coolant in the overflow tank?
@teddybeer17574 жыл бұрын

@thesighbored4 жыл бұрын
We put water to flush the coolant out while the engine runs so the water pump runs and flush the coolant + water out, the rate of water entering was faster than the draining at the bottom so the overflow happens not a problem..

If you are trying to save some money, yes, do it yourself, otherwise just pay a good mechanic to do it for you. Usually just checking the coolant reservoir (white/transparent plastic bottle) for the low and full level is good enough for knowing the levels. If low, can top-up through the reservoir. To change coolant, it depends, roughly 35k km plus or minus should be good for replacement.
