Johnny & Jeanise, father and daughter for 17 years, have a frank discussion about Johnny’s 13 years in prison and the impact it had on their relationship. Johnny talks about the pain he felt knowing another man had to fill his role as a father figure in his daughter’s life, and Jeanise explains how her experience with a formerly incarcerated father, impacts her dating habits.

Can't help but think about how many other young fathers who love their children and have the potential to be as wonderful as Johnny are locked up for nonviolent drug offenses and how many young children don't even know what it's like to have their dads at home.

You can really feel Johnny's sadness that previous decisions cost him time with his daughter that he clearly loves so much, but it's also so beautiful to see the beauty exuding from Jeanise, in how much she loves him no matter what, in how she's so proud of him, in her heart devoid of judgement of his past, and in how much she wants him to know that he's still her dad. Dads & daughters are honestly the best, this one was so beautiful 💕

Lovely and it is sweet to see a young lady like you who gets it. What I find sad is the fact that so many women, young and old, do not get it. I keep asking myself why they fail to see and underestimate their value. My hope is that you keep believing in your worth as you grow, even in the face of what others will want or try to make you believe. I too, being a male though, live my life based on what I believe and have always done what I want and not what others are doing or felt I have to do to fit in with or be accepted by others. So, KEEP FEELING AND EXPRESSING AND PROCLAIMING YOUR SELF WORTH TO ANYONE, because you are.

This was so beautiful. I love her mom for telling her he was in school until she was of age as well. A lot of mothers bad mouth the fathers sometimes without even noticing. But her mom didn’t want to cloud her perspective of her father.
@lifeofa2948
@lifeofa2948 6 жыл бұрын
shania barney my friend did that and even though the baby mama was crazy as hell and hated him she hid the truth to protect her child image of her father. He came home, mom went off on the deep end (mental illness)lost custody, he has full custody and she NEVER told the truth to her daughter after all the mean things she's yelled. He did less than 10 years and been out over 5 years. Kids don't need to know everything so young cause they will use little info like your mistakes to rebel when they want their way and throw it in your face. Also sadly some people feel if their relatives are alcoholics, drug addicts, dealers, or not doing anything productive in their life that they too are like that. I tell alot of young folks your parents, siblings, aunts, uncles etc stories isn't your story. I've seen kids drop out of school cause mama didn't finish and she doing good. So I believe in certain situations to wait until they're mature enough. This little girl was too young and i commend her mama for being a mama bear and protecting her. Also a big thumbs up to the girl step dad for filling in and keeping that secret.

Agreed. The system is out to get black men and tear them away from their families, so it's up to black women to create a healthy image for the next generation. If you grow up knowing your dad is in jail, you'll subconsciously want to go to jail. If you think your dad is in school, you'll want school. Basic psychology.

Simba P I used to have to visit my birth mom to see my other siblings and I honestly never wanted to 🤷🏽‍♀️ but the courts decided family days were necessary. It was just awkward because I didn't know what to call her . I still don't . I call her mom , but it isn't natural at all. She calls sometimes and I don't recognize her voice . I think I hurt her feelings a long time ago when she called and I asked who it was ....I love her because she's my mom , but she's not my "mom"

Sara Carbajal thank you for the encouragement. I guess I'm just afraid of him rejecting the idea and most importantly, rejecting me.

It's always worth a try life is short and while rejection sucks at least you'll always know you put in the effort and he just wasnt receptive. Then if it doesnt work see what he would be open to. Cooking for my dad and watching a fight is a sure way to get him talking and feeling happy a sit down like this not so much he'd laugh it off or get defensive and feel interrogated even if I'm just wanting to talk. As a result I've learned to just meet people where they are if i love them. Sometimes it's not fair but again life is short

Crying at work. I could never have this type of conversation with my father as he has mental illness and substance abuse issues. So there will never be a sit down honest conversation for me. Bit this was beautiful.

very beautiful father-daughter reunion its very nice to see a man have a daughter and tell her the things she deserves to hear because there are a lot of women who never head it from there fathers or another man most men dont value a womens worth or even let her know she is special and a gift and blessing from God its really nice that a man can understand when your a baby it only comes naturally to call the father figure who is present daddy because the real father wasn't there and its really nice to see a man not be angry at the mother because of it she looks just like you

I'm currently kinda binge watching these videos. I'm on the edge of tears because I do have a dad, he does love me I guess, but his whole life he's been closed off as a person and I could never talk to him. He's really quiet, reserved, I don't know much about him. I wish we could talk, I tried, but it's not going. A billion times I've asked my mother to tell me how he feels about my successes since he used to only be disappointed in me, so now I work extra hard but I still never hear he's proud of me. There's a possibility of me going to America alone for a longer time, and I'm only 15, so I was interested in how he feels about that, would it be hard for him etc, but I couldn't get much out of him. One day when I have kids I'll give my 110% to make sure we have a good communication. I just wish I could talk to my dad more.

I'm so grateful for my Dad he's my rock ! My dad and mum ! My dad has never failed me in my 28 years of life. I tell my dad everything he always knows the right answers especially when dealing with boy problems back then lol my dad is such a humble man and kind hearted, hardworking man ! I remember I fell and broke my arm one time (not that major problem) but to my dad if I've been hurt it's a MAJOR problem so and I called dad at work and even though it was busy he called his boss and his boss told him to hurry up and go to your babygirl not even 10 mins and dad was already there I'm such a baby at times I'm his only girl with 3 brothers, sometimes I feel I always fail my dad for the bad decisions I made in the past, he always tells me he's proud of me and no matter I'm always gonna be his babygirl and he's gonna always be my dad 😢😢💗💗 Because of him I grew up and he and my beautiful mother moulded the young woman I am today. I'm so blessed beyond measure ! Can't wait for my dad's 60th coming up, we pulling a surprise party. Love you dad always&forever. Blessings to this beautiful father and daughtet 💗💗

I would love to do something like this with my dad. There’s so much I feel like we haven’t been honest with yet. He is an amazing dad, but as a kid he was in another place in life, still dealing with resentments and loss, and not knowing how to decipher his feelings. But now we’re so close, he found help, got remarried, and crazy as it may seem now me 25 have a 2 year old brother. And he has seen through my little brother how much he missed out on me and my other brother growing up. I love him to death.

What amazing is how MATURE, they both are..... Obviously the young lady is mad wonderful especially for a person begining adulthood but I'm equally impressed by bruh handling himself in such a stand-up way Admitting faults, mistakes and pains while being a sensitive Daddy to his baby girl....just a beautiful thing😊 A few more days and my baby girl will be 21, that transition is indescribable....having a mini you in female form awe inspiring.
