That’s then internalized.. so to ask for help or need help is then considered shameful. She dated and married a provider man. That’s the way it should be. Any shame she felt was never meant to be associated with being cared for by a good man. Chile. In America we are still crippled (literally and metaphorically) by the generational trauma of slavery and racism. Black men and women, including myself, are responsible for our actions. But there are other factors at play that need to be acknowledged to fully understand how we got here and heal.
