I’ve lost count the amount of times I have come out of a hairdressers and felt like going into hiding as I hated what had been done to my hair. Well done Jess for being honest and letting them know you didn’t like it. I always smile & say it looks lovely before running home. It’s a silly thing to say but actually telling your hairdresser that what they’ve done isn’t what you’ve asked for is BRAVE! I have a full fringe and went to a new place for a simple trim and came out with LAYERS in my fringe and thanked him, paid and sat in the car and cried 😂 sometimes I think hairdressers do something wrong then try to convince you that it’s what you asked for/suits you better so seriously well done for saying something! I do wish hairdressers would be honest with their clients and look at the inspiration pictures and say “your hair is not that texture/length/undertone and neither is your skin etc etc so we can get to something approximate but it’ll never look like that”. My hairdresser is a friend, she’s done my hair for over thirty years. Occasionally I’ll take inspirations to her and she’s always completely upfront if it’s achievable with my particular hair/face/skin tone .... never any disappointments! I also lots three-quarters of my hair 2/3 years ago due to Covid, it’s slowly growing back - however, I’ve stopped colouring it or putting any heat on it and what’s there now is in fairly good condition (when all is said and done, any hair longer than three inches, is a reflection of your lifestyle six months previously - what’s coming out of your scalp is not living ..... now you’ve changed your lifestyle, your hair can only get in better and better condition 😉) Having said that, although I know you didn’t like it and it made you feel old - but WOW!!! it really enhanced your skin tone and brought out your eyes ..... final straws and all that though 🤗

I think your hair looks great! I understand why you were disappointed but I do think he gave you something like the picture. That person just has different coloring than you etc but I’m proud of you for going back and getting what you want. I’m also glad you’re going to someone who cares about the health of your hair. Honestly I applaud you for saying you dislike it and being honest. Too often I've not said anything and then left the salon with hair that I hate or just haven't been completely happy with. Don't feel silly for crying over it. You've done the work over the past 6 weeks to get your hair in the right condition to have it done and of course wanted to look good for going out and for your birthday too. I would have cried if it was me too. I'm one of those people who don't really like my appearance at all, I hate the way I look, but do love my hair and always have. It's one of the things I do spend a lot of money on and take care of because it makes me feel good.

Aww jess i would have cried my eyes out if i went to the hair dressers and didn’t like what they’d done. I liked the darker root but feel you needed more highlights on top to break up the depth. Plus the pic you used needed the wanded curls to show the colour at its best. Youve done so well with dealing with your grandads health. It’s not a silly thing at all it’s what’s important to you. For me as a plus size girl my identity and the thing I like about myself that’s a comfort blanket is my hair. I’ve had so many hair disasters and cried after thinking because a professional is doing it, it couldn’t possibly go wrong …. Yea right. My latest was when I said just cut 2-3 inches off 6 inches later I now practically have a Bob and hate it I bawled my eyes out so totally get it ❤❤❤❤

Jess I'm exactly like you total blond and the up keep is horrendous! Am thinking about going back to my natural colour of light brown, if your still not happy with the top of your hair get them to put some babylights in down your parting that will lighten the top . Can totally relate hun 😘 ❤xxx

I am a carer and we are not allowed painter nails not even calgel I don’t understand why as we were gloves so I can’t see the problem . So now I just get a manicure then paint them with normal varnish and take it off when I go to work. It it does annoy me lol. I love it when I get my brows shaped and tinted and I get my eyelashes tinted as well

I think your hair is lovely now, and I know people often go slightly darker for autumn winter and then go lighter in spring. The cut really suits you too. But fair play you were honest, I never have the balls to 😂 Sorry to hear about your Grandad. I think big birthdays are emotional anyway but when you have someone not well and then something in your appearance changes it can tip you over the edge. My 40th was before Xmas in 2021 and my meal was able to go ahead but people were understandably dropping out and I was so stressed I spent the lead up to it crying 😂 the actual day turned out to be great. You are not being a wuss getting upset about your hair either...... I've cried many a time after a visit to the hairdressers. I think we walk in with big expectations and when they don't achieve the required result it is so frustrating especially with the prices they charge these days. I was 60 on Friday. my family get together is at a carvery today as my sons work weekdays. my hair was ultraviolet..I luved it..then my hairdresser dyed it red by accident..it is now bleached and damaged. I will get my ultraviolet back once my hair has healed. have a fantastic 30th birthday.

I had a nightmare experience early this year with a hairdresser..First time going in years and the foils swoll mega (i wasnt sure it was normal but dont think it is)she said nothing but after my hair was so broken! I am now scared to get colour again! My hair was in top condition prior to going in! Glad it worked out for you ❤x

Ah Jess, I’m not surprised you were disappointed and upset at the first colour he did. I do like it now it’s been re done. I had a similar experience at a hairdressers years ago, just before a friends wedding and I left the salon, not completely happy. I walked to the loos in the shopping centre I was in, the light was different and it looked grey! I was mortified and I was about 40 at the time and didn’t want to go grey earlier than I should. Luckily, like you, they fitted me in an hr later so I had to hang around town and get it sorted. Luckily I was quite happy with it after thank god and I went to my friends wedding and felt good. Btw no reason to think you shouldn’t have cried, especially when it wasn’t just the hair that upset you, your grandad being so unwell too . Sorry to hear that xx
