Great product no doubt, but it’s crazy how much they are.. it’s a nipper lol. Like the magnet idea.

Come on, what is not crazy in flyfishing? $1k rods, $500 reels, wading stuff, ... At least, these have a unique feature, that no one else has.

Merry Christmas Slide Inn and all! Guess what ended up in my stocking this year: The Simms Pro Nipper! I also got an upgraded vest: the Simms G3 guide fishing vest (amazing wife!). The Simms folks really thought about this pro nipper and other dangly bits when designing their G3 vest. They put a perfectly placed small metallic "docking station" on the vest at both retractor locations so that the nippers (or other metallic objects) magnetically adhere to the vest and don't flop around. This is a subtle but brilliant feature! I can't tell you how many times I've wrapped my floating line around my dangling bits.

$80 for nippers, how can you say that with a straight face?
@tomkirk69423 жыл бұрын
$80? Good god!
@johnnylightning14913 жыл бұрын
Like a couple of other commenters it's a cool tool but $80 is really, really pricey. Next time maybe you can find something for us cheap skates for about $20-$25. Keep the good stuff coming Kelly. BTW have you seen what your buddy Gunnar's been doing lately?

Magnets instead of a spring? Now that is an interesting idea.

Great design, however mine barely lasted 60 days of guiding. The blades are dull and the magnets fell out rendering them completely useless.

Good to know! I will keep an eye on mine and see if I have a similar experience

Wtf that sucks!

I always have to question anecdotal evidence like this…magnets fell out AND the blades went dull in less than two months? Aren’t these things supposed to be 12c27 cutlery steel? I have several knives in that stuff and it’s a KILLER steel if you aren’t blasting through abrasive material. I dunno, man…this type of thing just always sounds odd to me…

@manifestgtr I'm a full time guide and spend 7 days a week on the water, I admit I tend to destroy gear, but I would expect to get at least a season out of a premium product like these. That's my experience / opinion, take it or leave it - but that's real world use not a brief KZbin video saying "hey, these look cool".

Hi, can the jaws be replaced ? They look the business though. Cheers Pete W

Nope. The old ones could but not the new one.

Yes, they can…I’m not sure why this dude said they can’t be.

Guys, nobody is saying you have to buy this. The price is high but it’s a thoughtfully designed, domestically built multi tool…for a small, niche industry, no less. How many of these things you think they’re selling? 10,000 maybe? If it’s too much for you, just don’t buy it…nobody’s ripping you off.

The threader works like a champ. Thanks Kelly. I had cataract surgery last year and now I have trouble tying on. I was reluctant to buy this nipper because of the cost, but I'm glad I did!
@JP-dz7zu3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but the price of these nippers are obscene. It’s a slightly better pair of nail clippers that you can get in any gas station for $3.
@craigmitchell19932 жыл бұрын
Hey but they don’t say Simms or Orvis on them at the gas station c’mon now...the name alone makes them worth $80 for a pair of nippers 😂

Wow!!! You sold me with the threader. I struggle constantly with seeing and have tried tons of cheap ones. Order coming soon.

Great product but as with the Simms sling packs with their magnets, no use for those with defibrillators or pacemakers as I recently had to send back and exchange the product.
@straubdavid93 жыл бұрын
I was wondering about that. I need to confirm that with my cardiologist to see just how strong of a magnet I need to be concerned about. It may be just fine if it is hung on the opposite side from your defib? Take care.
@DrJohn4933 жыл бұрын
$80 bucks and no knot tying tool thrown in!? Ouch! For that price it ought to be the Swiss Army Knife of nippers.
@JohnSmith-zk5pq Жыл бұрын
I know I am late to the party, but to those complaining about the price, have you seen the Abel nippers? $250++++ and the jaws are no loner replaceable.
@ThatSB Жыл бұрын
Something that is super useful on this is the magnets. When you are messing around changing tippets on a dry dropper and need somewhere to place your flies. No issue dropping them with a magnet like that. Way better especially than putting them on a rock. Youll never find them! And in foam or fur they can still fall

The magnets sold me. I love the Orvis nippers’ reversed leverage design, but the darn”spring” (ie piece of folded wire) broke on them.
