Avocado vs Birch Mattress Review | Reasons to Buy/NOT Buy

Have had the Avocado Green mattress for 5 years. After ~3 years, it started to permanently sag where we sleep, and it has just gotten worse over the last 2 years. When we purchased the mattress, they did not have their foundations in stock. I asked for recommendations, and they said 'If it's springless with slats no more than 4" apart, it will work well with our mattresses.' I bought a Zinus foundation with gaps that are just under 3". When I recently complained about the sag, they are trying to blame it on the foundation we have. Their warranty process is very restrictive, and they won't stand behind it, even though we followed their advice on a foundation that met their criteria. We will likely have to replace the Avocado soon, but not yet sure what to go with. Anyway, I would definitely recommend staying away from Avocado.

Their warranty is the worse. You have to make sure you are buying the specific bed/slats they want if not they won't honor the warranty.

You’re far better off with a separate Topper, which you can replace after 5-7 yrs. When a Pillowtop SAGS it is forever there until you replace the entire mattress

I’m trying to decide between these two and the Nolah Natural. I’m 195 lbs and like to sleep on my back and sides and have horrible back pain. Any recommendations?

AVOID AVOCADO MATTRESS!!! This overpriced mattress was a nightmare. Took few months to receive it, then within a year, it started sinking, and we started getting body pain. The warranty process was so long and complicated we ended up just donating the mattress. What a waste of $3,000. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. It's very unfortunate because I had high hopes for this so called organic mattress company! Biggest wasteful purchase of our lives!

I had the same experience and customer service was SO rude. They ended up charging me for shipping and re-stocking fees for a mattress they never delivered, and they refused to rectify this. The pillows and toppers I did receive were lumpy and painful within 6 months. Birch it is.

Stay away if you want to sleep, this is the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept on, it’s way too firm.

@@briceldaa idk if this will help you on your search but I went and got a mattress from birch’s parent company Helix and I love it! It’s not 100% organic but they don’t use all the chemicals like other brands and it’s super comfy!

Should we be concerned about the lawsuit that was filed against avocado? Apparently they paid to have it dismissed but won’t share paper proof with consumers, which is concerning.
