Koa Smith gives you a cinematic wave-check tour of the North Shore during the biggest swell of the year. I've stood on the edge of a 75 foot cliff on the big island and gotten drenched from the waves crashing below. The ocean is a different beast out there in the middle of the ocean. I love Hawaii, went several times when I lived in California. They have some great hiking there.

Used to go to Haleiwa in the 60’s before surfing was a big thing, and when traffic wasn’t bad like today.

It's terrible. Traffic is backed up from Haleiwa all the way through and past the Bay. I think it was Sunny one time couldn't get through for his heat and some braddah came by with a motorcycle and got him there on time.
