Truthfully, the alternatives for Rillaboom are also quite numerous. You have the Applin evolutions, Roserade, Tsareena, the Oddish line, Maractus, Trevenant, and more. All 3 types have good, solid alternatives. Not that they are must-have types on a playthrough though

Glad to see Grookey won, I’m not a fan of most grass types but I always find myself preferring the grass starter over the other two (with a couple of exceptions) but good list and reasoning overall. I often find myself looking at the same issue you did when deciding who was the best. “If I don’t pick this starter type am I missing something or can I find a decent Pokémon of that type in the game”

No mention of Court Change for cinderace, the speed stay makes him a real solid prankster-esque Pokemon. Plus the unreleased Libero, Cinderace is likely going to be the best of the 3 by the end of the gen

@@yourdog7278 Yeah but they have a huge contrast. In kanto squirtle is amazing and crokodile in johto is also great but in hoenn, mudkip was the worst. Greninja in kalos was amazing but oshowatt in unova and poplio in Ahlola were not the best. ( I love poplio and he is one of my favourite pokemon but in reality, he isn't as powerful as litten ). However sobble is my favourite starter this region cuz I love high damage, glass cannon and quick pokemon.

The final choice was understandable, honestly I'd want to get grookey as my starter too. As you explained it - grookey has the best run of the game, with the only thing messing him up is the end of it. But honestly I think I'd grind until the higher level pokemon pose less of a threat than usual. Btw I wax team scorbunny but this video changed my mind to grookey instead 💕💕💕

Todd Hamilton yeah I am with you on that one. Everything was split amount the community about which starter was the best and sobble was up there. Then he went emo and I don’t even know what inteleon is. Definitely made me reconsider my starter choices before I even get the game.
