@@MercOne yeah, to a point. How many old super cars and even just high end cars are insanely cheap to buy but brutal in repair costs to own? I feel like it’s a pretty good number. Like think of the tech on old S-class Mercs, you can get an old one for cheap and then spend that same dollar amount on repairs. I believe older cars that can be repaired for a reasonable amount and maybe even at home will hold more value than cars with nearly impossible to repair tech. It’s cool stuff but not sure I’d ever have one out of warranty.

It’s funny, no one bats an eyelid when Mercedes, Bentley or Rolls Royce price their luxury vehicles at around €350k/$350k up to and over €500k/$500 but when Porsche price their flagship vehicle at €250k\$250k fully loaded, some have called it ‘overpriced’. Also mentioning the cost for the active ride option being expensive. Porsche has always been performance first then luxury, so for this car to offer the best combination of both, €250k/$250k inc. all options is a relative bargain when compared to those other manufacturer’s flagship models. Paying for the pinnacle of engineering excellence that delivers outstanding performance, high end technology along with premium luxury all in one package is well worth it, in my opinion, and is practically unmatched by any other all-in-one sedan solution. Hats off to Porsche, again. Bravo 👏

Mercedes introduced the Active Body Control (ABC) hydraulic (Hydropneumatic) suspension back in 1999 which could keep the car level when turning, braking and accelerating! they were so ahead of their time! I know it had alot of issues and was a pain to maintain, but still..... its awesome..... in the 2006 W221s they totally fixed all the issues with it other than the regular wear and tear stuff, they even updated it to have crosswind detection and compensation the second time around with the W221.... all of that with the regular power supply, unlike here where this suspension feature only comes with the hybrid powertrains that have 400 volt electrical systems.

The only thing that made me go awooga was the motor being in the gearbox now, that sounds silly complicated. I do like the Panamera now though, it looks way better and the ride is mind defying (reverse diving under braking? Mental) Justifies its price a bit. Interesting car for sure!

Almost every car enthusiast has seen the Bose suspension videos from 15+ years ago showing an LS400 that floats over every surface while having no body roll or dive under braking. It's super cool to finally see this kind of suspension in a production car, even if it will likely never be cheap and light enough to find its way into a car us plebs can actually afford. I'm very curious to see how reliable it is long-term.

Almost every technology filters down eventually. Active dampers were very fancy 20 years ago, but they're now on many regular cars. Ultimately this tech is nothing more than actuators, pumps, valves, and microchips and software etc. and with enough time to smooth things out and enough economies of scale, it will be on regular cars eventually.
