Upper Big T is a fantastic road for the Z06, big smooth open sweepers where you can load it up how it wants to, not have to deal with the more bumpy surface of the rest of Big T, and open that thing up on the straights. The fact you ran into traffic on it is astounding. I've been there when I went up and down it, parked for like 20 minutes, and didn't even see a single car. It's like a longer less convenient connecting road for most people.

Regardless I was able to set my personal best On my first track day out with the c6z with just pads/fluids and Michelin pss I'll consider buying it again as a track beater once they're in the mid 20's. Not to mention the consumables on this car are extremely cheap!!! Rotors-$60, raybestos st43 pads-$250 and 25 mpg on the way to track!!!

Amazing what 10 years waiting can do. I remember when the 2006 Brand New Z06 for the C6 Gen hit the Chevy Dealer Showrooms. My Uncle works at one, We went to visit him, and I saw the Most beautiful New Z06 in Black with the Chrome wheels, Black Tinted windows sitting on the showroom floor, and the Car was Unlocked so I jumped in. Fell in Love with the Leather seats, the 200MPH Speedometer, and the Shifter, But I was only 14 and I must say, It felt like an Impressive and Very Powerful car just sitting still. Especially with that New Car Smell having only 3.3 miles on the Odometer. The price tag was an expensive 80+ grand, and ever since that Moment I swore that someday, I would Own an exact black Z06. Maybe I wouldn't have the privilege of breaking it in to the double digit miles, but I could always have the engine rebuilt like new and the price tag would be cheaper as it aged and was considered a used car and the price dropped. But I still can't believe it's been 10 years since that, and The price has come down that much. From 80 grand plus Dealer Markup, down to 37 Grand for one with 50k on the clock. These are a great Bargain.

Got it for $40K back then at 4 years old & 3500 miles a year. Since then I've added an A&A Twin Turbo system, Callaway Cold Air Induction System, C6Z 1 7/8 American Racing Stainless Steel Headers, C6Z American Racing X-pipe with high flow cats, 02 Extensions, NGK Spark Plugs, MSD 8.5mm plug wires, C6Z3 Cam, Stage 3 LS7 Cylinder Heads with 2.200 Titanium intake valves and 1.61 stainless exhaust valves; Double valve springs good to .660 lift, Comp Pushrods, Port Intake Manifold, Complete Front Cover gasket set, ATI LS7 Underdrive Pulley, Gates Belt, LS7 Crank Bolt, ARP Head Bolts, GM Head Gaskets, LS Valve cover gaskets, LS7 160* Thermostat, C6Z Mild to Wild Exhaust Control, F.A.S.T. 102mm Intake Manifold, DSS axles, and an ALKY Control Meth system....I'm sure I forgot some stuff. The last dyno run was right around 900 RWHP & 895 RWTQ. This Z is a keeper for life, besides it keeps my 2015 Z06 company in the garage. Maybe I'll see you guys at a Cars & Coffee, I usually hit a few each month & then canyon runs. They'll both be at the Shift S3ctor Airstrip Attack as well. The tires comment reminds me of the Kappas... the Sky/Solstice. The OEM Goodyears absolutely sucked. I put on a set of Pilot Supersports and had an autocross-oriented alignment done. Different car. Dramatically better. Now it’s a total corner-carving sweetheart. C6 Z06 is still the performance bargain of the century. Likewise the Gen 5 Z/28, if you want a track-focused car. Carbon ceramic brakes and Multimatic dampers and whatnot. Designed to be flogged all day and just keep ticking. And now available in the low 40’s. I lust for an LS7. I just gotta have a real back seat... hence the SS sedan/Commodore in my profile pic. With family needs to consider, I may end up stuffing an LS7 in that once the warranty expires. Something about a normally-aspirated 427... it’s an irrational attachment, but hey, the passion aspect is part of being a car guy, right?

Yugo uses pretty much the same transverse leaf spring suspension. :)

Great video! Love the reviews with the actual owners and their cars, so we can see which mod really works. But whatever you do, don't buy the Caravaggio seats! I bought them and it took almost a year to have them sent to me here in Brazil. Worst, the guy send them by freight and not by courier for what I paid and that was another major headache for another few months!

think we could get a walk around before or after the drive see how the car sits and just to get some eye candy of these beautiful cars.

Thanks for the Video Matt. We can only dream of having something like this in Australia for 37k, they cost upwards of 100k for a 2007+ model.

Matt, I've got to figure out how to bring my C5 over to California to do one of these mountain runs. It has a 454LSX in it, coil overs, Caravaggio seats, 600whp etc, etc, etc. I would love to know what your opinion will be vs this C6 Z06.

I like the last gen pop up lights vette. But not after I hear of leaf springs. Make me think different of the car now.
