hi guys geologist here, from what i can find the biggest asteroid (that we know about) that has hit earth is about 6-9 miles across (10-15km) it impacted in the hadean over 2 billion years ago when earth was going through a large amount of volcanism and the surface was still partially molten. we don't know anything about its composition density that i can find and suck but i imagine it has to be consistent with most asteroids considering at this time we are a mostly formed planet (i think) originally because of how big the crater was and due to when it occurred people thought it was a caldera but structures known as shatter cones later informed us it was an impact. as for continent sized asteroid, if we average the size of continents we get a diameter of around 4000 (very rough estimate) this makes an object bigger across than the moon which has a diameter over 2000 miles. meaning this asteroid would probably bee spherical and have its own gravitational field significant enough to probably warp earth as it approaches. for comparison the end Cretaceous asteroid (the one that caused the cretaceous mass extinction and killed the dinosaurs) was around 6 miles across. All this to say, I think we might die.
