Hi Dave. Beautiful scenes brilliantly captured. You were one of the first wild camping you tubers I started watching. The winter camps when you are alone in tent chatting away are still the best content out there. I also lose things in tent in winter. Especially in my Hilleberg nallo which like most hilleberg tents has not enough pockets! Also have real problems with cold hands and feet. Amazes me when I’m out with someone else who is gloveless pitching their tent and I’m in a world of pain because I’ve taken my gloves off for 30 seconds!

Really appreciate that Gary. Thank you. Haha. Glad it’s not just me that loses stuff 🤦🏻♂️. ATB

Not watched for a while Dave and it popped up on my phone, so bottle of wine opened and immersed myself in to the video on KZbin. Great video and genuinely relate to you out of all the vids I watch. Everyone is different but you where my original and others followed , they all have their own edge but your still the one I seem to connect with. Anyway you seem to have a few niggles here and there ! I got to 57 without any issues ! Then it was all down hill, now I struggle up and down the stairs, as iv mentioned before, so love connecting with you guys. Keep up the great work. Barry G Ps: You did meet my lad when he was bagging (Paul) when he put you on to me 😊 fairways to hills I think he calls himself. He's taken up my mantle and loves the solitude of the hills, although he takes his daughter up a lot too.

Hi Dave! The Xlite valves are easy to replace/repair, if that's the issue. Mine developed a slow leak at the valve. I just pulled the valve assembly out (it's just pressed in), applied fresh grease to the O-ring, and reinstalled it. No problems since then! Just Google how to do it. 👍

Nice one 👍 I always find it takes a few camps to readjust to the winter camps in sub zero temperature 🥶. Thermarest are on the last chance saloon with me. On my third x lite as in many years.all warranty replacements. First one of the chambers separated and blew up while on a camp. The second one started deflating and couldn't find a hole. Turned out it was a faulty valve. On my third now so far so good 🤞. Also got a Cumulus quilt it's the 350 and it's been amazing. It's getting on a bit now and losing a bit of its loft so I just got myself a Zenbivy (somewhere in-between a sleeping bag and quilt) Hoping to test it out on Wednesday night.
@TheSoloSummiteerКүн бұрын
Nice one Steven. I’m gonna patch up the cumulus quilt hopefully I’ll get away with it. Yeah, definitely takes a few camps to get into winter camping mode🥶. I just sent my extherm the back to Thermarest Hopefully will get replaced. ATB

I've given up with inflatable pads and moved to a Nimo Switchback, not sure what temperature it's good for with a R1.9 but I did think about doubling up and using it as a half mat or even getting a second one as I think they would interlock. Evening Dave. What a fantastic camp mate. I was out in the Langdales last Wednesday and there were the four jets circling all afternoon. They made two passes down Great Langdale. As for our hands, I get the same thing mate, my forefingers on both hands end up going white, you could hit them with a hammer and I wouldn’t feel owt. I’ve order one of those Oocuppa hand warmers, hoping that helps like it does with you. All the best mate. 🥶🏔️🥾🏕️

That looked like a cold one Dave but what a pitch 👌. I completely lost my faith with the Thermarest quality of recent years. Before i started using these lightweight mats i had one of the classic so-called self-inflating Thermarest for well over 25 years and apart from it never ever self in inflating once i got it inflated iot never once let me down and then when the 1st generation xtherm came out i bought one of those which never let me down but then i went down the road of the xlite and the newer xtherm model and it turned into a right fiasco with deflations and issues with the internal layers on the xlite so i just gave up in the end. Customer service with Thermarest is top notch biut i just want a mat thats going to stay inflated and keep me warm and so far the Nemo EC has done exactly that with no negative issues whatsoever plus i find it more comfy being a side sleeper
@TheSoloSummiteerКүн бұрын

A fantastic camp Dave. I think that was probably one of my 1st solo camps up there back in January 2023. I had similar conditions to u, clear blue skies but really cold. I’m gona have myself a z lite mat just for that extra protection, I had an incident on my last camp when after a brief walk on top, got back to tent and the mat was flat, luckily I’d left the valve slightly open. Ive got the z lite sit pad and that’s fantastic, but having the mat is also great if anything does go wrong with your mat. Great to see u out again. ATB Pete

Great video Dave!, can't wait to get out there myself!! Never been up on Lonscale, been over Skiddaw but looks like it'll be a new on to have a night one! I need to somehow cut down on the weight in the pack as I usually run at like 20KG even in the Summer!
@TheSoloSummiteerКүн бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it 👍. Yeah, 20 kg is a killer James. Lugging heavy rucksacks up mountains is starting to take its toll on my body. It’s not that I can’t do it, I can, but afterwards I pay for it with aches and pains and injuries.
@bordersphotography-astroco2825Күн бұрын
That path to Skiddaw rings a bell. You think you're gaining by using the underskiddaw car park at 300m , wrong the ascent (400 to 600) is brutal . After that it's Ok, but on the day I went the clag rolled in when I got to the top. Choker. BR John.
