A friend of mine where i used to live had a battery powered heated jacket I must say this last week or so I’ve been driving all over uk and it’s bitter one of the coldest months for a long time and that’s down south too Loads of flooding in Somerset and Dorset trees all over the place and wind is blowing hard I might invest I thought I might suggest for you too sir Always a good backup

Soft mat, what a royal PIA. Send it off to Thermarest and they’ll replace it for you, usually for free. Moto here is to always, but always, use a protective underlay, regardless of the make. I use a section of Tyvek underneath my tent as it weighs so little & then a 3mm light AF foam mat under my thermarest. Bonus is extra insulation as well as stopping my mat sliding around and the mechanical protection. 😎

I have been contemplating for some time about getting the Allak 2. Watched many people use it. This post has completely convinced me. Cheers. Also subscribed, spot on camp.

First time ive seen one of your videos, spot on that, bloody cold with that wind! Ive subscribed as this is one of the better videos ive seen in a long time. Nice one.

A punctured air mat is my nightmare! Had that happen once - woke every 40 minutes feeling cold and needing to blow it up again. I too carry a small section of Z Lite and also a Helinox Groundchair. My plan is to sit up in the chair wearing my sleeping bag. Hopefully I’d get a bit of kip that way. If not, there’s the R2 rated Z Lite 🙄.

Your gear failed because you are sitting in a tent all gear up. Take off a jacket and other thermals.

Nice and chilly for sure! I use a Zartek battery/ hand warmer. It heats up to 40deg for 9 hours and you never have to suffer cold fingers for long.. 🤗

Great to see you back out camping again Dave. I had to laugh about your comment on losing stuff in your tent . I do that all the time . I'm just back from the lakes during the storm Bert, searched the tent for my headtorch before realising it was actually on my head . 😅

Yup, I unpack inside the tent and then the item I’m looking for just vanishes until I’m packing up in the morning. I then bought some packing modules and problem was solved.

Hi Dave! The Xlite valves are easy to replace/repair, if that's the issue. Mine developed a slow leak at the valve. I just pulled the valve assembly out (it's just pressed in), applied fresh grease to the O-ring, and reinstalled it. No problems since then! Just Google how to do it. 👍
