Cracking spot that Dave. I did a camp over at Dale Head tarn last Summer, another really good area. Great area you've got here though overlooking Buttermere. I'm currently recovering from a hernia op but hope to be out again early Spring. Ace quality from you as always. Wishing you a fab 2025. Simon

Alright bud, loving your channel and videos! Getting alot of tips on Camping for next year for me and my boy who i want to get into Camping as he gets older. Was recently watching you vlog when you used your tentbox when you said you couldn’t find a camping spot with on site facilities. Have a look at a place called Rutkins campsite in Keld! They have 3 spot to camp that is next to a river and waterfalls, they also have onsite toilet and showers. It’s also the halfway point for the Coast to Coast walk.

Totally agree! A good mat is essential. I remember first starting wild camping and had a mat with no R value 😮didn’t have a clue. Upgraded to a thermarest after 2 camps.

High on the peaks where the cold winds bite, Dave finds his solace in the fading light. A solitary soul with a pack on his back, He treads where the valleys fade into black. The mountain is quiet, its whispers are clear, It knows every secret that Dave holds dear. A tent is his fortress, the stars his guide, Alone in the wild with nothing to hide. By the flickering flame of his modest fire, He dreams of summits that never tire. The ridges, the cliffs, the trails unknown, Are the places where Dave calls home. No chatter, no crowd, just the call of the height, The howl of the wind and the moon’s pale light. He climbs for the silence, the peace in the air, For the freedom that comes when no one’s there. Through storms that batter and skies that weep, Dave walks the paths where legends sleep. A solo sumiteer, bold and free, Carving his story in the mountains’ decree. So here’s to Dave and his rugged domain, Where solitude lingers and spirits sustain. The mountains may test him, but still, he’ll strive- For up on the peaks, that’s where he’s alive.

You can get charcoal activated pads that stick to your sock. I but one under and one over each foot yesterday when hiking pike o blisco in the fog. Not freezing but a significant wind chill factor. They worked really well. Helped the rest of me stay warm.
