If the old and historic Hamarweyn is rehabilitated and cleaned, it can easily attract millions of tourists every year. Unfortunately, the leaders don't have vision , plan or even basic development strategy to uplift this beautiful city and create jobs for its residents. All we know to talk about and discuss in length is QABYAALAD and defend politicians no matter what, based on tribal alligence. Look at the comments - no one seem to care about the garbage on the streets and complain about it. Every Somali inhabited is city is the same and they're all in bad shape. When are we going to learn to make our leaders accountable? All we care about is which tribe this or that leader belong to - dead end! Feel sorry for all Somalis.

You should have visited Afgooye. My wife is from there and it's an Eldorado for anyone who's into plants and farming. I visited a 500 Hektar commercial farm and it was beyond description. Maybe on your next visit inshallah.
